Cayman R with PSE - trackday noise?

Been thinking about booking a trackday at Croft which is local'ish to me.

I have noticed that they also run quiet car track days with a limit of 88db (static) which is stated that any unmodified exhaust car will conform to which I assume is some sort of manufacturers regulation restriction for road cars.

Any ideas if it will be OK to run on one of these quiet track days?

Friend of mine took his Cayman R to Bedford recently, no problems with noise and they are quite strict. My GT3 was 101Db on static but no issues on track.

Wouldn't pass that quiet day, but if it's any help my brother's CR was fine at Bedford as long as he kept the PSE closed. They're pretty strict there, so whatever their limits are would be a good gauge for other venues and CR suitability.

Just looked up Bedford and found the below info.

The noise limits at Bedford Autodrome will remain unchanged at 101dB(A) static (measured 0.5m from the exhaust at a 45’ angle at ¾ maximum revs) and 87.5 dB(A) drive-by at 20 metres.

If your brothers CR had to keep the sport exhaust closed at Bedford, I assume it must be close to the 101db limit?

I guess it means I'll struggle to do the quiet car days..

Bedford ok with most, mate had unplugged GT3 and was fine.

Tbh he left it closed on purpose, no point risking being chucked off for a bit of extra noise that you can't hear with your helmet on anyway.

No chance PSE open, I was blacked flagged.

Remember they only test at 5k revs static.

The drive by with PSE at 7k revs will trip most tracks.

But no chance passing a 88db static test.

Thanks for that... the Croft website does say 88-90db but the organiser says it's 88db although he did say he's had Caymans on the event in the past but didn't go into details which model.

I've sent an email to Croft also for clarification but if yours was 91db static I guess it maybe a little too close for comfort..

PCGB are running a "noisy day" at Croft in late August.

I did an 88db day there and there were a couple of 964s out that didn't meet the static limit. It's less important to meet the static limit than it is to not trip the on-track sensor linked to the council.

Just lift off by marshall point 13 as you exit Sunny out, the big black box on the left of the track is quite obvious!

My R was 95 dB with PSE in standard mode.

Actually, I very rarely (if ever) drive the car with the PSE turned to loud.

The car sounds just great without it !

Thanks for the info... I did get a email from Croft saying that it's not a problem to do a noise test prior to making the booking for the "quiet day" if I give them prior notice as I'm pretty local but I've come across another stumbling block since which is Insurance as my current Insurer won't entertain track days!!

I started another thread for that so just weighing all my options up as single track day Insurance is somewhat expensive... some cases as expensive than what I'm paying for a full year!
