I mean who ever thought about talking about a weekend of racing on a forum about motorsport, surely not.
Seriously if we are taking this editorial line then I look forward to seeing the next thread opened on the BGP heading over to Events (if it hasn't already)...

If you wish to be picky about it it is a weekend of racing that is also an event. Were we to go down that route then we would have to say that any meeting with more than a few grids of cars and a burger van is an event. Fair enough, then we will just start posting up about the BGP, Oulton Gold Cup, and so on in the events section and leave the GM forum free for talking about only international happenings and motorsport news.
Yes there was a thread, in the backwater that is the Events Forum - a sub forum that has less post in it than the cycling one for gawds sake.
Academic anyway as obviously not something that bothers the management, I'm just one of those dying people who is interested in bringing new people into the motorsport World and to help them realise that there is so much more out there than just F1 and Le Mans (which at least is a big enough event to get it's own forum so is not a valid comparable). Shoving talk of something like the Silverstone Classic into a barely lit, if not dark, corner of the site does no one any favours. Only people looking for somewhere to go specifically or who are searching out threads on it will find it. The GM forum is a much more lively place and having seen the thread on there this week I know of 4 people who have made the last minute call to go who didn’t know about it before.
It’s not really my problem and I’m not even sure why it bugs me but I am passionate about the sport I love and its history, to see the best Classic Motorsport meeting in the country shoved into a quiet little backwater saddens me. And before anyone starts Goodwood is not a patch on this. People make it out like it is the second coming but in reality both dates have become nothing more than an exercise in corporate and personal willy waving, latched on to by the sort of people who never look at a game of football but would be the first to rip a pair of FA Cup Final tickets out of your hand to be seen to be there.
On the other hand I suppose that the less people who know about it the better as then it will not suffer the same fate as Lord March’s venue. Perhaps it is the best way to ensure the right crowd and no crowding.

Damn right, The Revival is just a fashion show these days, full of the sort of people who go to be seen.Also, surprised there is no mention of the event on the PH front page, considering it's size and the fact the FoS gets so much attention.
