Wiper & 2 Problems
Discussion
Remark: Problem solved!
...wonderful weather, since i bought mine...
...first (really heavy) rain yesterday and i encountered 2 probs:
1.) Wiper starts as recently as in fast lever position.
2.) As many others: Wiper will not park itself.
I learned to park them manually - nearly perfect.
But that´s no solution for the coming decades...
Cables & contacts are completedly cleaned (now) and probably well connected.
I opened the wiper-gear, cleaned & greased it, opened Lucas WHB101 cleaned it & it looks great now.
But nothing changed.
Where should i look next?
Steering column?
Where do i find the wiper related cables & relays?
...hopefully not behind the Dashboard?
...or probably thrown over the battery?
That´s how it looks in my passengers footwell:
Number 1 disconnected - but probably place for interval switch...

Someone able to identify the rest of relays & connectors in this pic?
It would help me a lot.
Best regards,
freeclimb

Have you checked fuses? Are your brake lights working?
Depending on model year, yours might have a fuse that protects both the wiper park circuit and the brake lights. On mine it's a 20A fuse, fourth one from the right IIRC, but yours may be different so you need to check your manual.
This fuse blows once or twice a year for me, and leaves me fiddling with the switch until the wipers park sensibly - but also leaves me without brake lights.
Before doing anything difficult or expensive, I'd take 2 minutes to check that fuse - if you're lucky that's all it is and it'll cost you 10p to put right.

Do you mean you have no control over the speed of the wipers?1.) Wiper starts as recently as in fast lever position.
If so it could be the column switch, it is a Vectra item. I had a Vectra once and it had a similar problem which was caused by the actual wiper switch. I got one in a breakers and replaced it and problem solved.

Yes, that´s right:If so it could be the column switch, it is a Vectra item. I had a Vectra once and it had a similar problem which was caused by the actual wiper switch. I got one in a breakers and replaced it and problem solved.
The wipers runs only, if lever is in it´s upmost position.
Intervall poition and slow mode does not engage the wiper.
Thanks`s to all.
@ Dr Mike: Brake lights work
Thanks a lot, You´re so helpful & inspiring:
The Vectra hint motivated me to open the cover of the steering column.
And what did i see?
THE WIPER-CONNECTOR WASN`T LOCKED IN PLACE
The upper side was almost free from any electrical contact, i suppose.
One click - everything´s good now - even my self refurbished Park Switch runs properly.
Thanks to all
- thread closed, i will check my new Beatles Violin Bass now
