Bleu Nord v Houx

Not done the 1st tickets thing, but I have camped at Blue Nord & Houx. Houx wins every time for me. Centre of the track, short walk to everything including the tram. Good atmosphere. Blue Nord is the other side of Maison Blanche, so a bit further removed. Always was home of Caterham club when I was there. it was OK but felt a little removed. Prefer Houx or Maison Blanche for feeling part of the event.

Actually there's not a lot in it, with parts of Bleu Nord closer to the track than the 'wooded' part of Houx. It is a little further to the tram but on the flip side easier to drive out to the shops/Classic British Welcome/etc without having to run the gauntlet of twunts.... and whats the ratio of twunts ? (thats a great word btw!)
I was wondering if you get a more race focussed atmos in the secure camping sites than you do in the general camping in Houx?
Is there a preferred camp for race atmosphere, as we know where the party campsites are, and i wouldnt mind leaving that behind for this trip.

As some of the Private campsites are really just fenced off areas of ACO campsites (like those in Beausejour & Blue Nord) then you are still surrounded by those "twunts" (agreed this is a good word!). To avoid them I would look at those private campsites that aren't set up within ACO campsites. I think there are just 3 on circuit like this.
I think that anyone booking a private site should do so on its merits and look at what the feedback is from the forums, just because a site is not on its own does not mean that they will not suffer idiots. I think that this is clearly identified by some of the topics on this forum.You do have to remember that all the Private sites are not just fenced off areas within other and are separated by roads and in some cases likes ours ditches and roads.
Sites on the outside of the track or not within an existing sites as is the PH site can suffer from other issues as they don't have double security and are prone to access from the outside world.
You will never eliminate the idiots who want to misbehave but we have found that when spoken to most people are reasonable and can succumb to peer pressure within the group.
This year the Village on The Curves suffered no particular problems,obviosly you will never eliminate noise completely but there again we are trackside and we do have a motor race to contend with.
I hope that everyone chooses the site that best suits them and they enjoy the Le Mans Experience in 2014 particularly if they are going for the first time.

It's true some of the private sites are just fenced off areas of the ACO sites but...
1. Your security will deal with any issues between fellow private campers. I've not read the small print but I'd assume if you don't meet the organisers expected level of behaviour you can expect to be 'ejected'.
2. Your security will also be both sober, French-speaking and known to the ACO security. This means any issues outside the fence that affect you can usually be dealt with too.
We had issues with 'outside neighbours' in Speed Chills/Bleu Sud this year (No Mr Frenchy, the stick on the firework is NOT for you to shove in the ground). The SC security were great - they took control, and over time worked through a polite word, asking ACO security to have a polite work, through to phoning the police. Admittedly the call to the police was more for said Frenchies good than anything else, as the dark (side the fence) tent their last firework exploded on and melted a hole in WASN'T empty but was actually full of rather large Danish guys...
