I need some new pads for my 328 e36. I use it daily as well as a few trackdays a year. Have been using yellowstuff, ok for road, overheat quite easy on track and the pedal feel is poor when really hot. They lasted under a year, price has now gone up a bit too.
I can see some Mintex M1155 (I guess 55 should be suitable for my full weight bmw) for a comparable price. Anyone got experience with these, what are they like?

Of course, there is the old favourite Ferodo DS2500 which get good reviews, but are another step up in price. Perhaps they will last twice as long though in which case it represents good value?

Pagid RS4-2 are great.

DS2500 are they not Ferodo?

I have used Mintex '44 and '55 on my Caterham and I rate them, I doubt that means much when the cars are so different though!

would not touch EBC again, Mintex 1155 suit the E36 very well.

Had mixed experiences with EBC - latterly it has been good though.

Never had a bad experience with Mintex, but never used them on track.

Got Pagid "blue" (RS 4-2) on the Griff and they're pretty good.

Would not use EBC ever again, they were cr@p on my e36 328.

I have much larger front discs & 4 pot AP calipers, so am not sure on your set up but here is my experience.

1155 - I found to be pretty good, basically the same performance & feel as DS 2500.

Pagid RS29 - Brilliant, last forever & perform the best, but expensive.

DS UNO - Nearly as good as PAGID rs 29, but not quite so expensive, so swings/roundabouts.

Yellowstuff - similar performance to chewing gum really.

I have Mintex on my Westfield at the moment and they work very effectively.

I have also used EBC on my RS Clio before and they were so bad I changed them after a month. They were not just bad, they were almost useless. I bought Ferodo DS2500's and the difference was marked.

Iirc, some time ago i read somewhere that EBC materials are produced by none other than Mintex. It's all about branding! Oh admin, i do hope this is not deemed as an advert..................;)

I am not aware of this, if they are made byMintex they are most certainly not the same material as used on the Mintex branded pads.

EBC produces 100% of its brake pad range in its own factories in the UK and USA, 100% of its own motorcycle brake discs/rotors in its UK facility

Another alternative worth looking at is Performance friction

I changed my Pagid RS29's on the my E30 race car for Performance friction and one race in they seam pretty good. Good value at circa £100 compared to well over £200 for the pagids

I used to use 1155s on my '91 CRX (with standard braking hardware, blank EBC disks and SRF fluid). They were fine when cold on the road, and never faded at all on open pit sessions. Monstered the disks a bit, and the pads lasted about 3500 miles, though almost all the mileage was getting to track days and track driving.

Chap I do loads of track days with has used them for the last 4 years or more, gone through loads of sets of pads but the disks are good as new, AP disks in this case.

Could be the combination of those blanks with those pads. Wasn't a compliant; more of an observation. I was very happy with the performance/ longevity.
