I have now had my yellow-top Optima Batter for 3 years now - purchased because at the time the consensus was that they were one of the best...
Not in my experience..
After 12 months it would not charge properly until the agent did a full recycle. Ever since I have had to keep it on my specially purchased charger, because with the car alarm armed it would not turn over the engine after a few days...and I did check to drain which was within reason. So, if I decided to go away with the car for more than a day or two, I would be worried about being stuck somewhere in a field or car park with no charge enough to get it started!
Perhaps I have been unlucky, so now I am looking for the very best replacement...
Thoughts and ideas would be welcome...

I had a Red Top 40 which struggled to keep up with the demand of the LS and all the electrical bits.
I changed to a Red Top 60 which is quite a bit bigger and needs a different clamp system but it never needs recharging, although the car is out regularly, but is fine after a couple of weeks sat unattended.

if your yellow top is empty after a few days, then there is definetely too much drain and any other battery will suffer
from the same problem. Fix this first and install a main switch that will disable the car alaram. You probably do not need it in the garage.
I have wired my cars in a way that the only electrical drain is from the radio for keeping the memory up !
