Press report (Road & Track) on the Russian takeover speculates on possible development of overseas sales including USA.
"In the late 1990s TVRs were popular with wealthy young British businessmen and 1700 were sold in the UK in 1997. Sales have dropped since then to 540 last year and are still sliding. Optimists say the $27m Russian purchase will revive the company. Critics say TVRs product range is too large for the company's size with different models competing in similar price ranges. A reputation for unreliability doesn't help although the marque's individuality means that customers accept some problems as part of TVR ownership. The next year will show whether the dreams of a US revival will sink or swim".
In a market-place already occupied by Viper, Corvette, Porsche and Lotus it looks a steep hill to climb.
