4 engined piston engined airliner

Hi I wonder if someone could tell me the other day in Bexhill I was out in the garden and a very old airliner popped over quite low.

It did have the look of something built in the 50s and not a modern turbo prop and had a blue flash on the tail and was 4 engined.

I'm just wondered if it was from a historical collection.

it was heading east past me on Monday (I live on the South Coast) and what a wonderful sight it was.

Shame my chippy wasn't quite as excited and thought I was a right tt hopping up and down on my new shed roof (which we were fixing at the time so I have a good view from 4m up in the air!)

The Constellation was one of the most beautiful airliners of all time, IMHO.

Yup, the 'Breitling' Super Constellation (only airworthy one in Europe) was on static display at RIAT.

Crikey - the terrain around Fairford seems to have changed a bit.....or did they decide to enforce the RA(T) by marking the boundaries in cumulo-granite?

It's that farmer north of the airfield who's been chucking lots of grow-bags over his field to make his hill grow a bit more for a better view so he can charge more for camping and park n view during RIAT

Doesn't come to Europe.

There was one in America as well (SAC - Save a Connie).
I saw one in USAF colours at Faenborough about ten years ago.

The Connie was to have been flown at RIAT a couple of weeks so i was told - until, so the rumour goes, the CAA stepped in & said, simply, 'she isnt flying this weekend'.

Unable to find out why however i do know that the Breitling people were far from happy.

I have never seen one in the air so was looking to it.

Breitling connie the only flying example in europe .... for the moment...... der germans are coming with a fully passenger certified example.....

Technically, not a "Connie".

The L1649 was called the "Starliner". It had a very different wing to the Constellation.
