msa bluebook - what class?

anyone know what class a 996 gt2 would be in for hill climbs ?

Probably road going specialist production cars over 1800 cc. It can vary between championships though as some have dedicated classes for Porsche while others put them in the libre class.

It's up to the event organisers mainly, rather than being defined by the blue book. I've found that for production cars most of the events I have entered in the north and west seem to use 1800cc as the cutoff for the highest capactity class, but in the south and east it normally seems to be 2000cc. Either way with a GT2 you will have an effective capacity of at least 3600 * 1.4 (40% multiplier for it being turbo) and so will easily be in the 'top' capacity production car class. That also assumes that you are running tyres from MSA list 1A or 1B as otherwise most events will bump you up into a less road-going orientated class.

The forced induction element I'm not sure about - the Blue Book penalises FI by 1.4 for hillclimbs.

I'm not sure if it would as I compete in class A4 in an Evo 6 RS and GT 911's are usually in another class to me.

I know what you mean but the GT2 is obviously a road car, over 2600c plus turbo.

Maybe as said above it'll come down to tyres.
