When I had the MOT a few weeks ago, I was informed there was a slight misfire on one of the cylinders. Not enough to fail the emissions, but it was noted.

More recently, as Ive been moving the Wedge between the garage and the drive, it has become more noticeable, and now even" bliping" the throttle to 3000rpm it is noticeable by the cracks and bangs.

Having had a number of head gasket failures in the past, im paranoid of the possibility of costly head gasket failure.

So, Ive been thinking I might just start by changing the coil, new leads, plugs etc

Can Anyone offer any other areas I should look at ? Injectors ?

By all means change all the usual electrical stuff that need changing but before going into more complex procedures and expense, run your engine in total darkness and look out for stray sparks. Night time would be the best. You may be surprised at what you might find. Ignition leads that are not tucked away properly may be shorting as high tension jumps. It's worth a try and doesn't cost anything.

Trying pulling one plug lead at a time to try and identify which cylinder is playing up. Might be as simple as a fouled spark plug.

I had a plug that had done under 2,000 miles, looked 100% perfect but kept causing a misfire if I started the car from cold and then switched off within a couple of minutes.
