Bonnet and boot lock plates; source?
Discussion
I have been having a bit of trouble with the bonnet lock plates and pins recently: One pin is a bit damaged and both lock plates are badly worn. Does anybody know what they came from? They are not listed on the Alternative Parts List (yet!), my local garage man thinks he has seen them before and mentioned LDV (which struck fear into my heart as we have had so much trouble over indicatorlenses). Any ideas???

Are we sure they're 104E? Parts drawing doesn't show anything similar and I'd surprised at even TVR sourcing bits off something that old!
I believe Vixen bonnet catches were from an Anglia 105E and M series from Hillman Imp...

I was told by a reliable source, Norman (Geraldtvr) one of the legends on here.I believe Vixen bonnet catches were from an Anglia 105E and M series from Hillman Imp...
Thanks all for the ideas, and thanks Mike for the offer (can I hold it in reserve for the time being?). I am also finding the 104E idea a bit puzzling, my local man says he is pretty sure it is Leyland and not Ford. I am however fairly close to Newford parts so I think I will call in and see what he says. Got to be worth finding out the original source?

That sounds worth a go - I did look at their website but they don't list anything under bonnet catches for a 105E (don't think they had an entry for 104E). www.newfordparts.co.uk
Good that Racetech and ML are doing them but I think it always nice to know the source of parts.
Keep us posted.

I can't imagine the bonnet style on a 104E would use such catches?
Anyway, second hand pair here if any use to you, may be no better than yours but there again there is not a lot to wear out ?

I understand the bonnet style to only have one at the front, but the 'S' uses 2 of them.Anyway, second hand pair here if any use to you, may be no better than yours but there again there is not a lot to wear out ?
I might be wrong.
Norman, where are you, lol.The pins are the same as LDV200 I think, pretty sure that's what I took mine off in the local scrap yard (sadly ones a bit too new to rob the indicators from). Loads of cars and vans use the same style of pin though so you could equally use one from something else it just might not have the same thread on the end or be precisely the same length.
Same here Norman, I am sure I have seen them before. Similar to Mk1 mini but I have found a pic of those and they are not the same. Nobody seems to have old manuals for the Sherpa/LDV anymore which is what I really want to look at. I am hoping to visit an old hand ex WD dealer in the next few days, the military used a lot of Sherpa/LDV vehicles.

Why not ring Neil Perry at ML Performance Parts he used to have all the factory documentation at TVR Car Parts and might JUST remember where they came fromGassing Station | S Series | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
