Cables broken. Looks intact under the bonnet. RAC on the way. Anything I can tell him? Roadside fix? I'm on a narrow hard shoulder so don't want to look with my legs in the road! smile

Glad it's the RAC. They do try to fix things at the side of the road and do carry lots of spares. They usually have end crimps to crimp on - also, the Bible says that you can use a single electrical connector block, you know, the white pastic jobbies we all use when putting lights up at home, just loosen the cable, put the connector on the end and tighten the screw.

Cheers, he's doing something similar at the moment. Carry a spare next time I think. smile

Good. The RAC fixed my 100 amp fuse, I just needed PH to tell me that was the problem, and where to find it. RAC did the rest

Two hours under Spaghetti Junction and I had to tell him how I wanted it but we got there in the end. I'll either need to buy a new cable or make one myself. Any ideas? biggrin

Buy new. I'd get my TVR guy to do it, but that's me.
The full thing is about £45 from Racetech Direct, inner and outer.

Ok, The RAC temporary repair was so temporary it broke as I took the car out the garage today to investigate a repair.

I've had a look at the 'Bible' which just seems to acknowledge that there is a cable and goes into temporary repairs but not replacement.

Does everyone automatically fit an entire replacement or has a inner cable DIY job lasted? The engine end looks like it can be done with a solderless nipple but the RAC threw away the pedal end and I can't get a good look at it without removing it.
The cable looks marginally more complicated than my Vespa throttle cable.

At £45 for a new one its never worth messing with the old one, surely? The inner could be rough inside or contain grit and dirt by now so its better to fit a new and reliable one imho.
