XKR electrical gremlin...?
Discussion
Hi,
My dad has a 2007 XXR and he had an electrical issue the other day and I wondered if anybody on here could advise. He drove the car for about an hour then they stopped for about half and hour and sat in the car. The car was off but the park brake not applied. After 30 minutes he tried to start the car and it was dead, no dash lights or anything, the car wouldnt lock. He then went away from the car for about an hour thinking he would have to call break down on his return. The car started fine and he pulled away to drive home. He noticed the auto headlights were on, even though it was a bright sunny day. They turned themselves off after ten minutes. A further 30 mins after this the radio turned itself on for 30 seconds then turned itself off.
Any idea what's going on?
Thanks in advance

Sounds like the car didnt recognise the keyless fob. I had someting similar but I put it down to only having the car for about 40 minutes.I had 2 fobs near the car and one of the batteries was going flat. And of course I was very unfamiliar with the starting process.
I changed the fob battery and all has been well for the last 4 months.

I had the exact same issue with my XKR a couple of months back. My battery is fine (always kept on a trickle), also the key fobs are good - the car tells you when one has a weak battery, so mine had been changed. I tried both keys in the central receptacle - still absolutely nothing, dead as a dodo.
What cleared the problem for me was pushing the hazard lights button - I don't know why this worked, and it hasn't happened since.

Thanks so much for the replies. My dad phoned sevenoaks jaguar but they said the have no idea what could be the cause. My dad would also like to know, in case it happens again, if there is a way to select neutral so the car can be towed, if it all goes dead again. He has the gear stick version, not the round dial.
Thanks
