Three up in an S?
Discussion
Last year I went to Le-Mans classic in my Taimar...........Very much a two seater......And met a guy who had travelled fron the Netherlands in his S2 with his wife and 11 year old daughter! I was impressed, as I have two sons, the youngest is Nine, who cannot come with me in the Taimar, because of the two seater arrangement. I have just got my S1 back on the road, and am currently enjoying the summer sun, and now school is out, both the boys HAVE to come with me, everywhere I go.
How legal is this?
It is pre 88, so rear seat belts are not necessary

Not wanting to rain on your parade, but I would imagine as the V5 says 2 seats, it would be deemed highly illegal and enforced these days if BiB saw you.
Depending on style of driving / distance being travelled, and not being to legislate for some dim wit hitting you, would you want to put a loved one at risk?
Having said that as a child, my mother took me and my brother in her midget to school - as the younger brother, I got the rear parcel shelf that isn't a dissimilar set up to the S (just much smaller!!) but seat belt laws weren't around in those days.

Not really acceptable in this day and age I'd have thought (whether legal or not), but as Scooby said, things were very different a few years ago...... I am one of six children, holidays in Dads Cortina consisted of youngest brother on Mums lap on front seat and no bench seat but one of us sat on a folded blanket on the handbrake lever leaving other four in the back!
Your opinions are probably correct! unPC as we say in this neo-puritanical age! Back in the day, I had various sports cars from Midgets TRs and an E-type, always 4 up! The couple in the back sat on the rear valence and held on to the windscreen, it was not unusual back then, but yes....today. That is why I asked.
I didnt say I wanted them to come with me everywhere, so now I have an excuse!

Hi All
On my V5 there is no ref to number of seats or passengers. I would guess it would depend on the boy's in blue if they pulled you up
Alan
I read that children under 12 or 135cm must have restraints ? and use seat belts if available. Work that one out if you can
