Anyone replaced their screen ? If so where from & how much ? Just noticed a crack in mine - it must have become brittle. Don't think it could possibly be repairable - needs a new screen sowing in.

Thanks in anticipation of info.

I've just had my Chim's rear screen replaced. Going from memory you'll be paying a around £200 inc. VAT for the job.

Cheers,
Steve.

Repeat the mantra - Check your insurance policy - a lot of them cover this and you only need to pay the XS.

Yeah Try your insurance..............I tried mine but they only cover GLASS.......seems like a bit of a ropey grey area but they were having none of it........they did say if it was 'attempted theft' that would be a differnt story.......it is amazing waht damage a stanley blade will do.... ;-)

Sounds like crap to me. It's windscreen cover you have, I bet that it doesn't specify glass in your policy details.

I claimed on my insurance for the rear window on mine when it blew out at speed, with no problem at all. The only slight hick-up was that since I was unable to use their recommended repairer then the excess would rise to £100. I enclosed a covering letter explaining why Autoglas were unable to fix the window, i.e. its a sewn in plastic one, and asked that they take this into consideration when reviewing the claim, well blow me, cheque eventually arrived and I only got charged £50 excess. Thank you Footman James, only a small token but a welcome one none the less.

If you claim for vandalism/attempted thefy this WILL have an effect on your renewal premium, unless you have PNCB.

I used David Batty at the Garage in Compton (near Guildford) - 01483811995. There are many other competant independents in the SE who could help you out too.

Regards,

Steve.

Had mine replaced recently in Bristol area by nice chap who does all a lot of the hoods around here for £125 inc VAT. He even came to the house, took the hood away and returned the next day to refit, lovely.
