Porsche in two years for 25k- what can I can expect?

Hello, I've recently started saving for a Porsche - I've saved 3 grand in 4 months, and I plan to keep going untill I have 25kish to spend on a car. I hope to save a bit more some months so I can do this in two years. This post may seem a bit pointless to you guys here but the reason for this post is so I can have a clearer picture in my mind of what I'll end up with for 25k or there abouts in two years time. Ideally I'd love a 997.2 Carrera 2. Gen 2 to minimise the engine troubles, more just for mental satisfaction really. Now, I've only been looking properly at porsches for a few months, does my goal of 25k for a gen 2 997 seem realistic or this that too much depreciation to hope for? Currently the lowest price for a 997.2 in the classifieds is £34950. I've done quite a bit of research, if i buy privately I'll definitely put it on the Hartech scheme, alternatively I would consider paying a bit more for something from 911 virgin etc. OPC seems unrealistic for my price I think?

I appreciate your help, I'd just like to get a clearer image of what car I can expect.

My dad had a 911 when he was 27, he was a postman at the time - just saved and did lots of overtime. If I can meet my goal with savings I'll also have a 911 at 27. Hah I know it's not that young but I think it'd be cool if I can pull it off too.

anything "normal" will be worth about 60% of what its "up for" now in 2 years time.

In 3 years that figure will be 50%!

Interesting thread, I've been playing the same sort of things around in my mind - around £20-25k to spend which at the moment gets a lovely 996 C4S or a early 997 but in 3 years might be a newer 997 - hmm.

I'm a big fan of the cayman and it is another option to consider! Probably closer to when I have the cash ready I'd have to see how the market is, in two years for 25k I might not feel comfortable spending that on a 987 car when I imagine the 981s will be hitting 30k.. Hah it's not straightforward! The idea is definitely a 997 gen 2, as it on for 25k seems like good value to me. obviously running costs will be a different story but it's something i'm preparing myself for! But yes, who knows I could be in a cayman! The 997 seems like a bigger gamble/more of a stretch, but I think it's what i really want.

plus for £25K you will be getting a 911 that is at least a couple of years older than the Cayman, which means it is a little further along it's depreciation curve, so all things being equal I'd expect the 911 to hold its value better.

NEW 997 - c.£75K
NEW 987 Cayman -c. £55K

25K 997 = 6-7 years old.
25K 987 = 3-4 years old.

8-9 year old 997 = £20k?
5-6 year old 987 = £18K?
