Currently thinking of improving the standard/basic dashboard in a Jeep which has had a Renault 5 conversion. [Well actually it is only a half conversion!]
I am trying to avoid going down the route of loads of dinky litle dials in a beautiful arrangement because I haven't got the clocks, or piles of spare cash to buy them. Jealous as hell.
Although I have an angle grinder I haven't got a MK2 Escort lurking in the yard offering to donate its vital bits.
We have seen various styles at the shows but would welcome some pics for inspiration- this is always a talking point with other owners. I have scoured all previous posts and not really found a lot of info so:

BIG QUESTIONS:
1] Has anyone found an easy fit dashboard from another vehicle that fits and looks great, bearing in mind the strange shape of the bulkhead, angle of steering wheel [which some have altered], the wide opening doors and does not restrict the view through the windscreen ? Or is there no such thing?

2] Has anyone had one of those CNC dashes made up at all, for a Jeep? If so what materials, costs and results have been obtained?

3] Can the 6 dial dash from other Fords be cobbled in without obscuring too much of the windscreen

4] Has anyone fitted/ made a curved dash like on the Volvo 480- I wondered if this could be a way of fitting the speedo near the middle thus avoiding the steering column but [this is the clever bit!] allowing the driver to see it while driving along?
5] Are there any Jagos fited with those cruisin lights all over the shop- washers, windscreen, underneath etc etc
Hope to hear and see definitive ideas. Thanks

drseg

mines just got a mk 2 escort pod - not even a rev counter equipped one although i have a few spare ford "clocks" of various types that came as spares with the car next time i go to where theyre stored will have a closer look - as long as you can connect speedos temp guages warning lights up properly almost any dash will work [as long as same voltage type of operation etc] in the space in a geep the thinner the better would be a good idea and there probably isnt the room for anything that isnt basically flat but if you want it bad enough you could make it work easier if its ford i'd guess though and old ford probably but good luck anyway

hi there, i cant remember where i seen it but i will try and find it, ive a pic on my old pc of it so might have to boot that up to get at it but i have seen the suzuki sj dashboard fitted into a geep!! it really looks the part! having all the tilt gauges and proper hand grip by the passenger!! plus they a similar sized car and the dash is(as drseg pointed out) thin so doesnt get in the way of the steering wheel!! i will dig my archives for the pic!
