My '07 Vantage has a mind of it's own as far as door locking is concerned. It started about 9 months ago when it wouldn't lock with the remote or the key! Then it seemed to sort itsef out and all was well until recently. Taking the car out and parking up, impossible to lock it. Coming home and parking up again impossible to lock it.Going out to the car first thing in the morning........locks first press of the remote !!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally confused.........any ideas guys ?

Change the battery in the remotesmile

Seriously.... When I first got my car it would randomly lock only one door, either one it didn't matter...replaced battery and both doors lock every time...

Last week it started doing it again, replaced the battery again, and all fine again now..

Battery is CR3032..... £2.99 for 5 of em off eBaysmile

Good tip! Oddly, I find that if I wipe around the door shuts, it sorts out any locking / unlocking malarky too.

Kris. Don't forget that wiping with rags is only for the notionally qualified.

Once in a while I open the bonnet, look comtemplatively at the big silver thing in it and close it again, satisfied that I *could* do something... if I wanted to wink

I've had/have this issue too.

It started when I had an ipod unit installed and a switch for fuse 22.
After realising that having the switch on (fuse 22 out) left the central and remote locking knackered, I switched it to "off" (fuse 22 in).
This sorted the problem out with the locking.
(I have no idea why).

Recently i decided to completely remove fuse 22 altogether.
And guess what, the flippin locking started playing up again!

Sometimes it'll lock, sometimes it won't, sometimes it'll lock and unlock!

Tried replacing the battery on the remote and nothing.
Also had a specialist charge me many hours of labour to unsuccessfully find it (the first time round).

This has nothing to do with the iPod integration kit or the batteries in the remote. There is a Technical Service Bulletin regarding the door lock modules on the Vantage and DB-9 models. Aston had issues with the original manufacturer from Spain and contracted with a new manufacturer to supply the part. Mine were replaced under warranty. Unfortunately, they replaced it with the same parts from Spain and 2 years later it's acting up again.

He was so disappointed that we were very slow to tell him about Heli-Coils, that he has gone (via Cologne for tips) to climb the Eiger. wink

It is something like that. He is not here.
