Hello All,
With a budget of 70k would you be inclined to go for;
DBS, DB9 Volante or a vanquish ?
Would be for use couple of times a week.

Always aspired to own an Aston, and now may be the time !

Thank you for all help and advice.

Predictably I will say V12V, early ones are around that price (probably a little more). DBS if you can find a manual and the garage is big enough.

More interested in the look and the noise than the topspeed.
Have an Audi RS4 cabriolet currently and want the next thing, but love the ride and noise of the Audi.

Gotta be a drop-top (if you've got a cab at the mo, you'll really miss it).

Buy this for £62K
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

Spend the change here: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... on getting the switchable suspension, sheer plates and maybe the exhaust freed up, depending on £££.

Then you've got yourself a cracking car. Ask Woolders smile

Buy Grants book in the sticky/FAQ
What do you want it to do?
If it is to replace the RS4 cab go drive a Vantage S roadster with fuse 15 out wink

I believe V12Woollie has made the transistion from exactly that car to a v8, then v12 Vantage. If a soft top is your poison, £70k will get you a cracking V8 roadster, plenty of noise and speed..

Yep.....go for a Vanquish.....try and pick one up for 50k so you have the other 20k to spend on the first years repair bills smile

The RS4 is an amazing car with a wonderful sound. But I always wanted an Aston and so moved to the V8V. In some ways the Aston didn't match up but the overall driving experience was very special and the sound different but epic when driving hard. The V12V is another ball game altogether and moving from an RS4 to a V12V would not disappoint. Whilst I think the V8V sounds better when driving hard the V12V just beats it in every other way. Lighter, faster, epic amounts of torque and enters warp speed when over 5000 RPM.

If you definitely want a roadster then a 4.7 V8V roadster would be special and within budget.

Some people may diss the Audi S and RS cars but they are a tough act to follow.

I am sure the dealers would be delighted to meet you and show you some of the options available to you, and I would be really surprised if you didn't leave with a vehicle. My vote would be manual DBS, but everyone is different.

Yes DBS would get my vote but I don't think you will find a decent one for 70k.......you probably will with 80k........good luck as half the fun is in the searching smile

Thank you very much for the comments, it all makes very interesting reading !

Interesting that there is no consensus, so guess it is a question of going to try them all - what fun, will keep you updated.

Thanks once again.

70K? I thought you were asking which Astons are worth buying with 70,000 miles.

Look, there is a consensus.

You say you have got £70k. Good. I don't know if that is £70k in ready money, or what you perceive your limit is in cash and credit. No matter. You are prepared to lay out a substantial sum on an AM.

Go into a good, well stocked dealer, and convince them that you are serious and are prepared to spend the money. Try the full range. I will be REALLY surprised if they can't find you a car and a package that suits you.

IMHO, I would buy a V12V or a DBS Manual. Failing which a nice 4.7 V8V or a DB9 Sportpack Manual. Failing which almost anything with the AM wings on it. There isn't really a wrong choice. Go in. Fall in love. Hand over your cash and sign your life away. JCT600 Brooklands, which is in Leeds by the way, is a really good spot to do this.

Lighter to drive, especially the smoother gearbox without the notchy first to second change when cold, and the twin plate clutch is lighter to operate.

The car itself is of course not lighter but also not much heavier either.
