Some new wheels for FFG's Big Valve
Discussion
Paul, I found this the other day, its your car with Spiders fitted being trialed by the factory. I actually thought that black really suited the car! You don't want to machine cut the 5 spokes more than is absolutely necessary as you run out of material. So you can take you current 5 spokes, a quick shot blast, paint them black, £200, it will protect the wheel better than the lacquer finish and if you ever sold the car, just have them returned to original.........I'll get my coat.....

I hate the Spiders - too brittle.
I am going to get mine refurbed and just want to get the lacquer off (which is ruining them) and polish them up. I do have a painted set but they were not done by me.
What is the best way to get the lacquer off without damaging the wheel as they can only be diamond cut a few times before they are scrap.

If it is just the lacquer, a dip in the paint stripper solution that they use in these wheel refurb places would be fine. Have you refurbed the wheels since I first did them? I do remember that small threads of corrosion started to appear under the lacquer within just a few months. I have a set of 5 spokes as well as the split-rims and they were left in bare metal, for that reason but just don't look great. If you keep on top of them by polishing all the time, they look like the set on the Silver 4.3BV at Fernhurst's, which just does n't look right. If I decide to put my 5 spokes back on I will just have them striped and painted a mid-silver sparkle all over, to protect the wheel, because as you say three machine / diamond cuts and that's it. I am going to get mine refurbed and just want to get the lacquer off (which is ruining them) and polish them up. I do have a painted set but they were not done by me.
