07 63 AMG with keyless go. Boot will only open with emergency key. Strangely, third brake light and number plate lights have also failed and are reported as a fault. Fuse seems ok. Must be linked in some way. Any suggestions before it goes to Mercedes?

Does it have soft close? If so, the vacuum/pressure pump may have gone.

Can't speak specifically for the CLS but I suspect there is a common wiring harness to the boot lid and it has become damaged in some way ? near the hinge to the boot lid. See if you can identify the wiring to the 3rd brake light and trace it backwards to see where it goes. Hope this helps, at least so you are best prepared in case Merc try to tell you they need to replace the rear half of the car.

Correct. It's a very common complaint for the W211 & W219, it's usually the common earth that breaks. If you remove the plastic hinge cover and the boot compartment trim on the left hand side it'll become very clear.

Fault was entirely as described. Took 15 mins to fix. Probably would have been £100 at Mercedes. Thanks again for the help.

I had this same problem and also had a numberplate light out, I did some searching but came up with nothing. managed to trace 3 broken wires in the loom by the boot hings and soldered them back together = all good now.

I suspect Merc would have charged much more than £100 as it wasn't that easy to find.
