Window left open in rain! Help

Chaps, a window of my 911 got left open in the rain and left parked on my drive. By the time I noticed it was quite wet on the inside, including seats and carpet.

Any tips on what I should do? Can the carpets be taken out or should I take a hair dryer to it.

Have tried blasting the air con to remove as much moisture as possible out of the car.

Any advice much appreciated...

Get a couple of bags of cat litter and put them inside the car, leave them open as it draws the moisture out of the air.

Make sure the ECU is not wet under the passenger seat otherwise you might have problems.

Dehumidifier; plugged in and left for as long as possible - empty morning and night and you'll have no worries. Water on top of carpet tends not to soak through as there is a textile membrane under the pile. If the foam backing is wet too then it will just take longer.

If there is water pooled under the carpets then do check the ecu's under the seat

Also is it a standard household dehumidifier I should plug in or a special car one?

Seriously, get over it. You do not need to come on a forum to sort this. What do you think happens to cab owners when their cars get wet when they leave the roof down? Ring their hands in worry? Nope.

Get some bags of silica gel and place them on the carpets, leave overnight and dry them out when necessary. P.S DO NOT LEAVE THEM ON THE LEATHER

I'm not sure if whichever 911 variant is the same, but the Boxster has electrics under the passenger seat that get wet if the roof drains are blocked, and cause all manner of electrical hissy fits. I dare say a window left open for long enough would have the same effect....


Edit to add- Rear Body Control unit apparently.

Thanks to all the helpful comments, it's because this is such a great community of helpful sorts sharing their knowledge and experience that make PH such a great forum.

I've put some rice in and will pick up some silica cat litter from Waitrose tomorrow. Then need to find the dehumidifier! Fun times...

Not negative, just I'd deal with it and move on. Sorry but, really. You have obviously done well enough to be able to afford the car you have. I'd be embarrassed to fret like you have, and make it public.
It's nothing, well as long as you haven't left the windows open for a week.
God forbid you had a puncture, and somewhere dangerous like your driveway.
Sorry but to me at least that's how it comes across.

Agree with driving around with heater on full, and the cat litter idea, should dry out soon enough!
