Can anyone recommend either a garage or mechanic that can look after a 156 that we've had in the family since new

I don't know if you've found anywhere but I'd recommend Monza in Ashington, West Sussex.

I've not used them myself but a number of friends have, one of which does the 100 mile round trip quite regularly.
