Redheugh Bridge is fixed at last!!

Yep, coming into work this morning was a dream, 15 minute journey instead of 30 minutes, as they have now re-opened the 2 lanes going into Newcastle over the Redheugh bridge, and as you can imagine, the difference is amazing! Also, it looked like the still closed lane going back into Gateshead should be more or less dealt with by the end of today (hopefully). Hopefully no more driving 14+ miles to get home to a house 7 miles away just to avoid traffic!

Oh, I should point out they are closing the high level bridge for repairs as well (the black box bridge which runs across near the Tyne bridge...)

The High Level bridge has been out of action during the wee small hours for months now. We sat and watched them one night, you should have seen the sh*t that came off it.

I get my hair cut just next to there and I was told that the columns that support it are cracking and falling apart.

It was meant to be closed this year but the repairs were postponed for a year due to the Tyne & Redheugh closing...

Imagine the scene, on the Holy Island run out I was chatting to a friendly couple in a Wedge, when they were discussing the line of cars we had.

The said "all those cerbera's, a tuscan, someones family car, a lotus...", the family car was a Audi RS6 which fully laden with 5 passengers and a full boot was easily keeping up with the TVR's and leaving me for dust!

Appearances can be very deceptive!

We looked at a Fabia vRS for a company car, if it hadn't been that it was on a 3 month delivery I would have had one. Ended up with a Seat Ibiza (sp?) 130tdi which is the same engine as the vRS, its hoot and surprises quite a few other cars.

I could have had a sticker on the back of the cerbie

"My reliable car is a Skoda!"

BTW aren't they talking about the high level bridge being shut for up 1 year? Or is that just a rumour?

Hi Malman,

They are pretty good fun to drive arent they. The only thing is it takes a while for them to warm up, but once they do they seem just as fast as most hot hatches to me, despite in some cases a deficit in power. It great sticking it 5th on the motorway and watching repmobiles being left behind

Is yours a TDI Sport or a TDI FR? I actually prefer the Sport to look at (more stealthy) but the FR is meant to be a bit better to drive.

Also, I have heard the High Level is in a bad state, so it probably will need closing for a good while.

Seat changed the entire model range the week before we bought ours. We (partner) had picked a 5 door 130TDi sport I think but when we went back to buy it there was no 5 door 130s so we ended up with the 3 door FR. I wanted a 3 door anyway so turned out quite nice. She picked met black so it looks nice. Handling is not bad either. We had a Saxo VTR for her previous company car so its compareable but a bit more body roll. Goes mad about 1800 - 1900 revs
