Does anyone have a dB meter? Or know of any garages that might do?

Want to see if I can get onto Croft on a quiet day.

Worth asking in the UK and Club Motorsport section, am sure a lot of scrutineers are on there and you may get lucky near you.

Bear in mind that the actual limit at Croft is based on an hourly average measured at a single point on the circuit - so it includes ALL noise. A static measurement may not give you a very accurate indication of what will happen when you're moving.

Yeah they have a microphone halfway round the circuit don't they

How do they measure it to let you on the circuit?

On the day that I organised, they didn't measure in advance, but were watching the meter and prepared to black flag anyone who was overly loud.

(Thanks for taking my advice wink ).

I have a proper one (bought it for exactly the same reason). You're welcome to bob round to mine to test your car. PM me.

I'm between Leeds and York.

Big big thanks to _leg_ for the use of his kit.

Clearly a big petrol head and all round nice guy!

Car topped out at 89db, so well under the 95 limit.

Good stuff. We managed to get a V6 Exige with aftermarket induction & exhaust round on a quiet day and its official noise level is way above that. you should be fine.

Ours was an 88db day. Remember, it's the hourly average while the cars are moving - not the static level for any one car.

Over the last number of years I have gone through the same noise issues, (hopefully not telling you stuff you alr, eady have)I have a t350 with cats and sports exhaust, noise levels are totally dependant on the circiute and the measurement method, drive by or static , and this is also relative to your maximum allowable revs, as on a static measurement it's generally taken as 3/4 maximum rpm , some cars do better on tests than others , tvr due to the frequency seem to do generally on drive by and poor on static .lotus elise especially exige s Lotus do badly on drive by and good on static, my tvr gets through a 98 drive by and records 102 103 static, hope this helps, my noise meter records similar values .
