Botterill aims for Donington-Croft double

Desperate dash from Donington to Croft in prospect

Michelin Porsche Club Championship racer David Botterill is planning a hectic weekend (23/24 October) as he tries to race two cars at different tracks. Botterill is chasing second place in class in both the Porsche Club and Northern Sports and Saloon Car Championships, and both series conclude this weekend.

He will test his Porsche 924 Carrera GT at Donington on Tuesday ahead of the Porsche Club double header, before testing his Porsche 944 Turbo at Croft in readiness for the Northern Sports/Saloon race on Sunday. On Saturday he will be back at Donington for qualifying and the first Porsche Club race, before the second race just after lunch on Sunday. Then, he will dash straight to Croft for the NSSCC race at 4.20pm, and will start from the back of the grid having missed Saturday's qualifying session.

"I'm currently second in class in both championships, but class two in the Porsche Club is going to be very tight," says the Stockton-on-Tees racer. "In the NSSCC I should secure second, so long as Andrew Morrison does not finish more than two places ahead of me."

However, it is something of a logistical nightmare. "Strasse will take the 944 to Croft for me and another competitor is going to get the car through scrutineering on Saturday," he explains. "Then it's just down to a dash from Donington to Croft on Sunday afternoon. The Donington race should end at 1.25pm, and allowing 30 minutes to get away from the circuit that gives me two and a quarter hours to get to Croft for a 4.20pm race!"

I am sure Dave and the team will manage the cross country dash with no problems and here's to a good result at the weekend only sorry I wont be there to see it.
Best of luck to one of the friendliest teams in motorsport

Cheers
