Hi All, I have my car going into the local dealer again for some diagnosis on the gear box. I have a db9 automatic box on a 11 plate. a couple of times recently when I have been driving it, I have had an issue with 'drive' not being available, and having to drive the car on the paddles, which works fine. when the car stops I also have an issue with selecting 'park' you press the button but it doesnt go out of gear, and an error message appears - one of several gear box related - service needed, reverse not available, no drive function, and you have to select N and then put the handbrake on and remove the key. When returning to the car and inserting the key, the car is always in 'P' even if I left it in 'N'

the dealer thinks it's more electrical related around the buttons than the actual gearbox, anyone else had a similar experience ?

I am assuming all of this will be covered under the warranty ?

These symptoms would indicate either connections to the actual buttons ie the plug on the rear of buttons or a loose main starter plug connection. At least that’s where I would look first, has any work been done in the main ski slope area?

no nothing that I know of, they had it recently to replace a convertible roof control module, but thats behind the rear passenger wheel arch I believe.

DB9 automatic here too. The error messages ("Gearbox fault. Cant select P/D/etc.")show up from time to time if you press the buttons in an abnormal angle. Kinda stupid actually. Always goes away after a while, a second press of the button or a restart. But yours seem to be of a more serious nature. Definitely have it checked at the dealer. I am currently having my clutch plate changed and asked my technician to take a look at the transmission as well. He said he can stop these error messages from showing up and is certain it's an electric al/computer related issue. Nothing wrong with the transmission itself. Good luck.

The fact you cannot select drive would suggest it is the drive button all other symptoms stem from that. So with that I would go with faulty switch or the plug connection. Most unlikely to be anything to do with the Transmission drive/gearbox.

yep agree with the above....the fact you can use the paddles normally, indicates the box is fine....it sounds like a connection problem

The transmission will automatically select ‘P’ if the ignition is turned off and you have D, R or N selected.

So that’s not a fault.
