Thank you to whoever recommended RH insurance for my 280, not only were they the cheapest for me they have sorted my claim out within 2 weeks, paid a very reasonable amount for the car when I rang up this morning to get a quote for a 350i they told me that my insurance hadnt been cancelled (as I thought they always did after a total loss)and I could just change the policy to insure the 350 for £23.

I would definitely recommend using them to anyone

Hi Mate..Thats good news..Unfortunately car insurance is based a lot aorund the post code and for me its not that cheap for a V8..Although i was quoted 500 smackers for a Tuscan last week and that was fully comp..Cheaper than a 350i...scratchchin

Hi Chris..Initially i was trying to help a friend...But i have been looking at Tuscan's and there are two i really like..One is under 20K and the other under 10K!...I really like the first one as its dark red mk1 with magnolia leather..Low mileage and 380bhp..The biggest drawback is where i live..So im just dreaming at the moment...I would still keep delilah though as she was my first TVR love...Cheers...Ziga

PS:Just found another..And another.....And

Yes and no

I could have kept the salvage (for free) but it wasnt worth the earache from the OH for a relatively small amount of cash especially as I dont really have anywhere I could have stripped the car.
I would look on Coparts website in the near future if you are after one to break

Are you kidding? We had a thread on here a year or two ago and we reckoned you'd get near £3k on parts if you sold it all...

£3k? really?

The front bumper was ok
Pretty much everything between the bumper and the windscreen is scrap.
The windscreen and passenger window were really smoked, maybe salvageable maybe not.
Passenger door was probably no good from the fire damage

Seats and dash were ok as was the hood, bootlid and rear lights (bear in mind it has the cheaper capri lights)
the passenger side front wheel was knackered.

I reckon I could gave got front bumper, indicators and sidelights, drivers door, the hood, the bootlid, back lights and the seats and dash.
I couldnt have removed the back axle as I would have needed to keep it as a rolling chassis.

The car was parked in the end of my drive blocking access to it and I was getting grief from my OH after 1 day of it being like that. I also work shifts and can be away from home for a week at a time so it just made no sense to me to get the amount of st from my OH for a few hundred quid.

Fair enough - it's a keeper to drop into conversation one day though though - "you know that car - would have been worth 2 grand in parts (as some were burnt) but I got rid of it anyway to keep you happy, my dear..."

Fuel tanks...Rocking horse poo...Wheel centre caps...Rocking horse poo..Especially in good condition...Wiper motor..Hard to find...Pod motors..Good for a refurb...Rear hub assemblies..Like baby rocking horse poo..Spare diff...In fact i would of found room for all of it...If i only lived nearer...Oh well...Ziga

Zig, I have a rocking horse farm, you can take away as much poo as you can carry. What about the filler cap - rare as hen's teeth, they are...

Keep an eye out on Copart then mate, i would be happy if it went to a good home and in an ideal world I would have broken it myself.

After seeing your post Andy I thought I would try them for a quote
and they have given me a better insurance (with more included)
AND saved me over £30 on what I managed last year

Good news

Excellent news Trickie, you are the second person I have told that has managed to get a better deal with them rather than their previous insurer.

I need to put a damper on RH Insurance. Remember it is not just the premium that counts, it is customer service. I for one will pay a higher premium for a better service. I eventually contacted RH this afternoon. The phone menu was poor and the wait was long before I got through to someone. I am expecting my quote tomorrow, so I shall wait and see. So far I am not overly impressed when compared to Manning UK. Check out RH Insurance's "About Us" web page, especially the bit in italics at the bottom - http://www.rhclassicinsurance.co.uk/about-us.html

I can only go by how they have treated me so far, their quote in the first place was within pennies of the cheapest but with a better level of cover, they were really quick to sort out my claim (<2 weeks form fire to cash in my account) and they have emailed me to check if i wanted the salvage returning.
I am surprised you had to wait a long time, I rang them a couple of days ago and I spoke to a person within 5 minutes (which I dont think is too bad for a call centre) and after checking a few facts with me told me I didnt need to set up a new policy I could just substitute a 350 for my burnt 280. I was on the phone 10 minutes tops.
