Anyone on here race in this Championship?

I would be interested in rough costs for a season and whats involved (obviously besides buying the car).

I have raced Karts in the past but this championship really appeals to me.

Any feedback would be much appreciated

Si just spent Saturday with the guys looking after labbbats rs500 and the entry fee was £1000 and the cars have to be ex touring cars and don't come cheap the labbbats BMW e30 m3 was for sale and the owner was after £150000 so might be better off with something a bit cheaper !! Unless you have won the lottery !

To be competitive in this series, you would need to be seriously minted.
I would think that the 1k entry fee (assuming accurate, I dont't know) would be the least of your worries.
I reckon you could have some fun / cause some upsets in a good S2000 car, which also seem to be eligeable - still eye wateringly expensive to run, but probably possible without selling body parts for cash.smile

Thought as much. i saw an Andy Rouse built Mondeo Super Tourer for sale on silverstone auctions est. 40 - 45k and it got me thinking. on the HSCC website it shows entry fees are in the region of £450. But then i suppose you would have to employ someone to be with you at race meetings to work on the car ect. plus transport. I estimated about 20k a year plus the car? Paul you'd be one of the first to know if I'd won the lottery biggrin

super tourers are mega machines, but bits for them are now rare & engine box/rebuild cost ££££££ IF you can still rebuild them.
But if you do your home work & buy a good car with lots of spares & can do a lot of the work yourself (as I do- im not talking engine rebuilds etc but pretty much ever thing else) you should be able to run competivitly for well under £20k per year
I budget under a £1k per meeting in total unless disaster strikes : just depends if you want to pay to have your car looked after

Only the SS Classic entry fee is that much. Thruxton this year was £390 for one quali and two races, thats the usual sort of figure. £2500 would comfortably cover entry fee's for a season.

This year they raced at Thruxton, Brands, SS Classic and Oulton Park. So if you want more than 4 meetings a year you may want to consider another series, however it is only the second year and at the bigger meetings its had growing support. As someone who has raced alot with the HSCC i would say they are fantastic, great people to race with.

I would always say go to a HSCC meeting (Oulton Gold Cup at the end of the month is the last round for ST's i believe) and speak to the people running the cars, most will be happy to talk honestly to you about costs etc. Having not run a ST i can't comment on the cost/frequency of rebuilds and reliability/parts availability, but i can vouch for the quality, driving standards and value of HSCC meetings.

I think I will go to the Gold Cup, looks a good day. Probably won't get talking too much about cost ect. As I'll have my Mrs with me and don't wan't her to hear biggrin

I've done a bit of digging on car prices and there seem to be a few cars with spares packages out there for 20 - 30k. I'm guessing if I wanted to sell I would probably get my money back.

I know a guy who has worked for touring car / GT / 430 Challenge teams in the past who would be up for looking after the car ect.

I would like to look at getting something together by the end of next year but I'm sure work and family commitments will get in the way.

Plus I'm going to try and twist Paul's (BellsV8) arm a bit to come in with me driving
