Spyder exhaust question

Seems like my nice, shiny exhaust tips (it has the PSE option) get awfully sooty after driving. Anything I should be worried about?

nothing to worry about that's the nature of the dfi engine

It's one of the things that annoys me as the tips do look rather crap covered in uneven soot!

I'm sad enough to keep on giving the tips a wipe with some kitchen roll after every drive so at least the tips look nice when parked up but obviously I look a little sad doing it! haha

I enquired about replacing the tips with the black tips that come as standard on the non PSE option but at £400 I just thought I'll live with it

Will prob anodise mine black over winter, or buy a Ti system one of the 2 :-)

tube of autosol.... shiny new all the time! fixed for less than a fiver!

I've tried Autosol on mine but it still looks tarnished (also PSE). I keep meaning to ask the dealership about it.

Cleaning them is not the problem, it's as soon as you drive the car on any short journey, the exhaust tip ends are covered in soot and as the tips are thick in design.

Here is a picture of mine as an example, which was cleaned and pristine prior to a 5 mile drive to do a photo shoot and this was the result (it's cropped so not the best pic)



Here's an image of how they look like clean i.e. if you don't drive it!


Might have to look at anodising locally... the black tips on Zyp's Spyder look so much better if the soot is not visible!

after cleaning with autosol put a couple of coats of normal car wax on pipes, this will keep them cleaner for longer

I think you should sell it, Joel... Clearly, it is a rubbish car... Here, it is Friday and I am feeling generous... £10k and a packet of crisps... And you can go back to having a peaceful life, without worrying about exhaust tips...

P.S. I think I polished the exhaust tips on my Z4MC once in 5 years of ownership and 50k miles
