Just wanted to post some drivel about the fantastic weekend we had in the S. After saturdays hoon with a chim owner, Ive been reving it higher before changing up and when warmed up, the car has been popping and banging quite a bit!

I couldnt hear the chim owner when he was lighting up his tyres taking off in front of me. When I was in front of him, he said the noise from my pipes drowned out the sound of his car so much, he couldnt hear his chim at all.

I still cant make it bang every time (you do have to try, and obviously I dont try every gear shift, but I think ive got the hang of it) - the exhaust seems to be a louder than when new(?) and the notes through the range are so different, almost seem to sound better the more time passes.

Managed 20+ big bangs over the weekend, and attracted as many looks (which of course made my day)

I really do love the S - it sounds so great, is so much fun to drive, drinks like a fish but is worth every penny.

We went through Eastbourne, the countryside, battle, hastings, had a really great time. Incidentally, the Origin B2 scamera detector is doing well out of town, alerting me faithfully. Who else has some kind of GPS based (either nav or scamera) system? Mine is installed to the right of the heater controls, in the shelf out of sunlight and view.

Is this going to be a post xmas mod then, or will you give in to the temptation to get them done right away? You'll also have to decat to take the crown of loudest car in eastbourne Congrats on the plate! Up for a blat this weekend then with Neil?

It only bangs 'cos I make it…!

If I lift off, and then feather the throttle then it pops and bangs away… but it's something you have to actively persue otherwise it wont do it...

I tend to slowly build up the revs to 4k, and then lazily/slowly shift to 2nd. This makes it bang for me. However, the car also bangs during fast changups, I cant decide or figure out how best to get the car to bang... yet. Whats with the feathering of the throttle? blips of 200rmp or 1200 at a time?

Accelerate hard(ish)… gently come off the throttle, and then just squeeze the pedal a little bit to get some more fuel through… and it should pop and bang… (when warm)..

LOL can't get mine to bang no matter how hard I try, when trying the method above it just wants to accelerate again, even on a very very light throttle . Don't know if its down to the cam characteristic or a lighter flywheel, I've had Mark dial in lots more fuel before now on the RR to get it to happen but no it won't .

I can get the car to pop, but banging is harder. Do you clutch in during the procedure, and why isnt this covered in the bible?

Tell you what gets mine popping and that's equalising the revs when changing down a gear. If you do that when going down hill you get hundreds of pops and bangs Hey, and what a day to try it on

With a clutch-in when you come off the throttle, totally off the gas, then give it a little more?

Was driving along last night, heard Obi-Wan-KaPodies voice in my head "Feather the throttle Rob, feel the fuel flowing through the system" ...

Im not sure exactly how I should be feathering though, tried it but think im doing it wong. I think im accelerating too slowly, and not hard enough.

With the engine nice and hot I take mine in second until just about where the limiter will cut in then change up and just give it a little gas and she'll usually pop a bit then. Same in third and fourth...

Also depends on where I filled up last.

I dont have shell, think someone said BP was the next best choice. Hmm, all my popping is done around 6k, im sure I could pop higher but try not to rev so high else I look like a loon.

Last night, was going through town, winding up to 5k and a couple turned round, stopped, and watched us go by I'll have to experiment more, trying to get it to pop at lower revs
