1970's 930 Turbo vs 1980's

Hi Lee,
the boxes are the same upto the 5 speed in 89, although they aren't 915 boxes as such, just called 930 4 speed, although I'm sure they'll have a number.
The early cars were 3.0 uptil the 80s when they went to 3.3.
3.3s are 300bhp, 3.0s are 275 iirc.
Other than that it's minor changes to whale tail, probably brakes etc.
Suspension all very similar being the torsion bars.
Generally the later the better, although I'd quite fancy a 70's one just for the hell of it.

Good info Bert, I didn't think they went to 3.3 until the early eighties when the 3.2 carrera came out.
I don't know what that's up for Lee, but they all make good money now. I think Paragon sold a '77 one last year for £50k.
My mate up here had a red with linen leather, 4 speeder, '84 or '86 I think and he sold it to another lad we know about 6 years ago for about £13k!! He honestly couldn't give it away!
I could have bought it but I bought a 964 C2 instead as I can't get away with the early gearboxes. The lad who has it now rang me about 2 months ago asking how best to sell it and that he'd had a trade offer of £28k! It's high mileage at 135K but mint. Not a bad return on his £13k. All he's done is service it every year and enjoy it.
Think he's keeping it again now though.
