looking into my first Alfa
Discussion
evening all,
need a new family car, and looking round, and the alfa keeps coming into my head!
looking at the 159 or 159 sportwagon!
would be a diesel due to the miles i do for work.
how reliable are they these days? will it last me 4-5 years? what are the running costs like for them? servicing expensive?
any model suggestions?

All i know is that they look fantastic, better in fact....

Ok, the search function can be a bit rubbish at times but if you can manage to get onto page two of the forum there's a long thread called something like "Alfa 159 - should I?". Might be a better starting point than complaining at 8am that no-one has replied to your post from 8pm ffs.
have a diesel 159 SW myself.
lovely car. has a few 'characteristics' which are truly alfa; such as no way of lifting the boot other than prising your fingers under the boot because I assume a handle would have ruined the lines
mine has been very reliable. 2 years and a couple of really long journeys like mid-france etc and not a single problem.
fuel economy is the same as any 1.9 diesel. It's a modern diesel, same as many other, iirc the insignia?!? Anyhow, the engine isn't very alfa; it's the same as all the others o you are getting standard eurobox reliability there.
great car. you don't get treated like a bmw/merc owner, yet it's still an execy car. but just so goddamn pretty!
