Hi all,

i got just two keys and one fob with my well kept Chim.

I would like to exchange the very basic keys and replace the actual remote,
but i do not get sufficient information, about the 1996 Chimaera Keys.
Is ist Opel/Vauxhall? What kind of car?

Measures:
length: 43mm
hight: 7 mm
width: 3 mm

I can´t believe, that i´m the only one looking for adequate Car Keys for a Chim.

Please help.

Have a look at Abacus Alarms website. You can get Meta fobs and immobiliser keys very easily and program them yourself. I bought some used fobs from ebay with keys built in. I removed the keys and cut down my own keys to fit in the fobs and fit the innards from the two fobs that came with my car along with the top from the fobs that have the TVR logo on the button.

Looks a lot better than having separate key, alarm fob and emergency immobiliser key.

They are standard Vauxhall keys. Cavalier, I think.

Mine now look similar to this.

Thanks a lot Trevor450,

i will deactivate that TVR Abacus / Meta alarm eternally.
The immobilizer went this way already.

It needs me to know, what make fitted 43x7x3 keys (mm) with key number 296.

I had my alarm changed by Carl Baker.
To my alarm, the last job he did was to cut the metal blades off my two keys!
He then fitted them into new plastic bits with two buttons, one for the central locking and one to release the boot.
He also supplies replacement keys.
Don't know where he got the plastic bits, but he's a friendly guy.
Www.tvruk.tv finds him

I merged mine into the shell of a flip key from a Holden Commodore VE.

The buttons don't match up in terms of position for the marked functions but it still works perfectly fine and there was sufficient space inside for the remote circuit board with a small amount of modification.

The blade is a match to have cut for the Chimaera so works a treat, or you can remove your old blade, cut a small notch in it and mount it into the flip shell.

There's one thing you can guarantee is that if you lose your keys, people wont have difficulty identifying your car with a TVR car fob!!!rolleyes

Does the key fob deactivate the immobiliser . Will the key on its own not start the car ? I have the one above with the separate fob ,thought that was after market and nothing to do with the immobil1ser.

It does. The immobiliser key is for emergencies only. Turn the key until the lights come on, press the fob and you should hear the fuel pump and you are ready to go.

Looks like one punched the 296 on your profile as well.
The issue is: the 296 profile does not match with official opel/vauxhall keys codes.
Thanks to goso germany, i found, that probably HU100 or HU43 could be the right profiles.

I would prefer HU43 - it looks almost the same like mine.
But both do not match with the height of my profile.

Again:
1.) I will eliminate all that original immo & remote stuff
2.) I don´t want to try abacus, meta or something like that again
3.) I will be independent in deciding what kind high quality remote & immobilizer will be the best.
(when i look at the Meta fobs.... that´s no quality at all)
4.) i don´t want to tinker one fob out of three

For that, it just needs me to know, what type of key was used for 1996 Chimaeras.

The pic I put up was just something that was on the net - my key doesn't have a number stamped on it that I can see.

I see from your profile that you in Germany. The steering column is from a Cavalier as stated (Opel Vectra A in Germany).

It fits in the slot next to the ignition in case the fob that unlocks won't turn off the immobiliser or if the battery in the fob goes flat.
