Close Outlook and browser windows. Go to http://desktop.google.com , download and inatll. Open Outlook before indexing.

Looks very, very good. Note - it's currently in beta development.

But you might also want to give some consideration to privacy issues before you do so....

Do you really want an advertising led, for-profit, public company to know what's on your hard drive and in your emails?

I had a look at my traffic after download and using it. There's nothing heading back to Google that I didn't expect and I'm as paranoid as anyone. (Sadly I work in network and data security)

As a slightly related aside theres an add on out there for GMail that allows you to use GMail as a desktop extension so you can store files on it and retrieve them natively (assuming broadband of course)...
