Mad lady on her mobile

I went in to Cheltenham in the Chimaera yesterday and as I turned in to the car park there was a lady walking across the entrance (which was also the pavement) engrossed ina mobile phone conversation.
I waited for her to clear the front of the car and then drove in (slowly). I parked up the car and began to put the roof up.
As i looked up i saw the same lady rushing towards me and she immediately started to scream obsenities at me and threaten to call the Police. Apparently I frightened her with the car.
I apologised but said I didn't actually do anything and was sorry the car was loud.
She responded with a string of obsecenities, many of them quite inventive but a lot of them seemed to centre around the "C" word.
She then spat on me... I have to say I wqas so shocked I just stood there with my mouth open thinking "WTF just happened".
Before I had a chance to do anything she turned, kicked the car and then said she was going to "get your car" before taking out a big bunch of keys from her handbag.
I finally managed to snap out of my shock/surprise and move as she headed to the driver's door with the keys in her hand.
I had to physically restrain her to stop her damaging the car at which point she started to scream obscenities again and try to turn her head to spit on me again.
By now I'd had enough and I just shoved her away, and unfortunately she fell in a heap on the grass bank.
I genuinely sisn't know what to do then so I just told her that if she got up I'd just knock her back down and to stay ther while I called the Police myself.
Whilst i did this she was frantically calling her boyfriend, I had no idea what she was telling him as by then I'd worked out that she was an Eastern European lady (loosely) but I recognised enough English swear words to get the gist.
Getting through to the Police they said they'd send someone over... But I waited 15 minutes and they never did. I felt bad about leaving her on the ground for that time so I let her up and she walked away shouting and telling me her "boyfriend was going to kill me", oh and she took my photo too..
In the end I decided it would be best NOT to park the car in that car park (just in case) so I moved it about a mile away into a multi-storey.
There was a tiny scuff on the rear bumper from where she had kicked it, and obviously spittle all over the windows..
All in all, not a great experience for me.
To be honest, I am just grateful I didn't punch her, which I admit I did feel like doing at the time, but now, having calmed down I know I'd have regretted it.
I genuinely didn't rev the car up, or speed into the car park, i was as careful and considerate as I could be...and even then I apologised. I just can't understand her reaction at all..

tting her mate, how can she come over here get welcomed in to our country then treat people that way.Im fuming after reading thisThey do tend to be a little on the hyper-side are our easty beasties. Pushing her to the ground is equal to giving her a punch on the nose but its ok because your defending your property.
I have to deal with some serious hyper cases in my job so don't ever cross a p!ssed off Brazilian they are mental.

Sorry to hear that, She sounds like a right lunatic.
Are you sure she was foreign and not a chav. The tell tale signs are big ear rings, an ill fitting "t" shirt, showing off her stretch marks she got from the first of her 7 kids when she was 16, A pair of ugg boots and a tattoo saying " Me + Darren luv eech uva 4 eva".
The language consists of ending the sentence with "init" or "yeah"
How to spot a chav,
Joking apart, sorry to hear about it and you showed more restraint than I could ever have done, I would complain about the police also, Spitting on you is assault and just filthy, she caused criminal damage by scratching your car and threatening behaviour and they had no idea if the boyfriend was on his way.
Hope you never have another encounter with her and if you do run her over and say she was to pre-occupied with her phone call and stepped out in front of you.
This excuse only works if you run her over in the road, Chasing her down the road and mounting the pavement may need a bit more imagination, although you could ring the police and say about assault etc, and they may never arrive.

I think I was only calm because I was so shocked... She spat on me (at least twice) and on the car several times.
I was fairly confident that spitting is categorised as "assault" so felt within my rights to defend myself, and the minimum force I could think of was an open handed "shove". Although I did grab her too, but only to stop her damaging the car.
Having said that, it felt like I was standing there mouth agape for minutes as my brain tried to come to terms with what was happening.
She was a lovely looking lady too, well dressed, well presented and I think that added to the surprise.
After I moved the car I called the Police back but realsised I didn't have an incident number and they seemed to dismiss it now that I wasn't still involved in the interaction.
I was also surprised at how many passers by just walked off. I'd have expected at least one of them to come to HER aid, after all, from an outsider's view there was a 6'1" guy knocking a woman to the ground.... something I would probably go over and investigate.
I'll be surprised if it's not on Youtube - someone is bound to have videoed it. It's a shame there was no CCTV in the car park, I think the Police might have had to do something if there was.

That's my concern. I am off on holiday tonight for a week, leaving the Chim on the drive while I am away. That's really going to nag on my mind now.I don't mind if her boyfriend shows up to talk to me, but coming home to a burnt out Chim would be heartbreaking.
I think I may ask a friend if I can park it at his place while I am away, I've already said he could borrow it so i am sure he won't mind.

It is indeed - but then again so is mine. I'll park it up at his place under a full cover. Having said that DVLA take a couple of weeks to provide owner's information anyway so the chances of anyone tracking the car down while I am away is slim...I hate to say it but it may be advisable for any red chim owner to be careful in the area, as they do stand out amongst the crowd. definitely speak to the police and report it, just in case, then that will make it worse for her as it was pre meditated (if they find her), and park in places with cctv.

Damn, now I feel guilty for making it difficult for red Chim owners.I am going to pop in and make a formal statement to the Police and get an incident number - just in case. It may have to wait until I get back though as I fly out this evening.

It's almost certainly the case that she was so engrossed in her phone call that she didn't even realise she was crossing a car park entrance (I'll wager she didn't even look before crossing) and therefore hadn't spotted your car, this meant as soon as she heard it, it made her jump. I also agree that you seemed to react as calmly as possible, given the circumstances.
If the "kick" has left any permanant damage (even to the paint) then that could be subject to "criminal damage" but might be best to leave well enough alone for now?
I'd agree making it "formal" with the Police might not be a bad idea just in case.
Shame you didn't get any pictures of her? but maybe that would have made things worse at the time?
