Rubys is in for her service and MOT on monday, As its likely to be the last time the car is in there before the warrety runs out in November ive given them a list of niggles i would like investigating.

Is there any thing i should be requesting they check specifically? or is it worth having the end of warrenty inspection carried out nearer the time.

Car runs perfectly, the list is menial, things like having to press the filler cap release a couple of times and a rattle. (things i could likely sort myself but seeing as i have warrety i may as well)

Does any one have a list of whats done on the service? Someone mentioned brakes being painted buy i cant see that personally.

I have no idea why im nervous, Tyres are new, brakes are good, wipers work etc etc.

I would make sure all common paint defect areas are checked very closely - e.g. around the doorhandles, below the quarter-lights, door mirror brackets...

I shouldn't worry, I read a survey last year in which the Vantage was the car with the least fails at first MOT.

On warranty stuff, my O2 sensor was replaced a week before the warranty, and a TPMS wheel sensor went a month after. It's pot luck I'm afraid.

some specialists paint the brake disc hubs at service time...which seems to rust very easily and make an otherwise new car look old

the service schedule is in the workshop manual and online somewhere

Id just be sure youve had the common fixes for squeaky brakes and aux belt...neither are expensive, but better to be done under warranty if needed

I'd take it to Bamford Rose and ask them to give it a proper inspection. They'll check all of the usual stuff and for a modest fee handle getting warranty work done by an Aston Martin dealer.

I got a new V12V clutch (£4200), paint work - bubbling paint resprayed, some interior stuff done and some other mechanical thing done. It was a year or so back and memory fades but I think I ended up with £6000 of work done that Bamford Rose spotted and I think I paid them a small number of hundreds of pounds for their work - maybe £600.

I don't think the MOT would be an issue, but if you want to make the best of your remaining warranty, John's suggestion is a solid one.

Currently in a very similar position myself, car is in for service and MOT at the moment with the warranty due to expire in a week or so. I was all set to chance it and not renew but one thing cropped up on the service that would have wiped out the money saved and then some. I was told the oil pressure relief valve was noisy and needed replacing and it was thirteen hours labour for the job yikes., still waiting to get car back but has made me think about the warranty renewal again.

As has been said in the past, it all depends on your own risk aversion. Hope you make the right choice smile

Geoff it's probably not covered anyway. You know, esential part of the engine, fair wear and tear, obvious abuse, etc, etc! I suspect it may even have seals.

Ah yes, the Get-out Clause.
Was it Groucho, who made reference to the Sanity Clause?

You're probably right, there has been a few people recently having their dealer/warranty test of character and patience, hopefully this isn't my turn frown
On a happier note the only other issues were number plate bulb and rear tyre wear (advisory, not due)smile. Not a mention of brake pads.. Must try harder driving
