NFS - The Run, Shift, Hot Pursuit or Most Wanted

I've been playing Most Wanted solidly (PS3) for pretty much all of the past year and must confess I'd let Hot Pursuit fall by the wayside a little. Went back to it last night as my son misplaced the disk (grrr...) and struggled to pull myself away.
Not sure why but struggled to get into The Run. Shift is great. Particularly like the recreation of Brands Hatch (my local track)
What's your preference? Any sneaky short-cuts or upgrades I should look our for (on MW and HP in-particular)? I bought the Lambo pack on HP. The Cannonball Run pursuit was video games nectar!
