What is Goodwood like in 996 GT3?

Would you say Goodwood is a bit like Castle Coombe? Quick, bumpy, dangerous due to lack of run off but addictive?
I see you have a RS 4.0. I hate you:-)) I spent couple hours in one at Silverstone few weeks ago. Lovely bit of kit and I got in it after driving a 997 3.6 GT3 RS.
The difference was amazing in terms of low down grunt in 3rd gear but not so different to the 997 3.8 GT3 RS I also drove.
I am surprised you got on castle Combe. I think they have a 98db limit and my standard 996gt3.2 blows 101-102. On that basis, you will likely need a 105db day at Goodwood. Who is the TDO? If Goodwood the,selves they often run sessions limited to 5 cars and 15 mins or similar to attenuate noise issues.
Goodwood is a very fast circuit and as per previous poster, not a place with much runoff. It bites. Pay particular attention to the adverse camber corners some of which have mid- corner bumps.
Great circuit in a gt3. And a good spot for a pub lunch.

I can only imagine how much fun it would be in a GT3

Possibly not the quickest driver but it made it a lot more enjoyable and interestingly I felt I was driving slower albeit i was a lot quicker

Hmmm now you have me thinking. Goodwood are indeed running 98dB that day and in Open Pitlane format.
Might just take my chances and promise to not rev over 5-6000 when on track:-)
It's great. V fast - up to 150+ down back straight. I had a 996.2 GT3 and it was my favourite track after Castle Combe.
Get tuition. Two areas to watch. First is not dangerous but catches a few out - be careful as you turn in to Lavant on trailing throttle if you have a good diff / cup plates. The back often eases away just before you get the power on. Very gentle and nowt to worry about.
Second is Fordwater. V fast and you need to commit. I seen some huge spins there - one in a GT3 I was following. Scared the life out or me as he just disappeared in a cloud of tyre smoke and I could not see where he had gone!
Oh, and the wall at the end of the last straight - if in doubt brake early!

Great circuit, fast and flowing only broken by the chicane. Treat it with respect. Drive smoothly and build the speed gradually. Bump on inside of first right hander can unsettle the car. Fordwater is quick and only the very brave or very daft do it without a confidence momentary lift off the gas. Right handers at end of Lavant straight are where the experienced drivers can carry more speed up to the entry into the chicane.

Thanks the 4.0 is a nice thing. The engine is strong, but the car is more than just a few more horses over the 3.8.
I've been thrown off Goodwood before for exceeding the noise limit in a car I would say I am pretty sure is quieter than my GT3. Be careful as they are very hot on it there and any cumulative breaches in a certain period and they have to take everyone off track until the period of total quietness lowers the 'average' or whatever they are trying to achieve - and when they put the cars back on the 'transgressor' won't be part of it! I got through the bulk of the day by being careful not to give it high revs between the chicane and the end of the pits, which is the section one of the drive by noise meters is located at.

Yeah that is what I was planning to do. Nice and early on the changing up where the noise meters are situated.Maybe I need to just take a different car to make sure no issues...
