So I'm reading the Pistonheads Vantage Buying guide and I came across this statement:

"When checking a potential purchase, make sure the plastic engine cover is securely mounted as it can work free and melt on the exhaust manifolds. Not as dangerous as it sounds, but worth looking out for."

Does anyone know what they're going on about?

Not really no, they also said about the fuel cap being heavy confused . I'm ready to be corrected but never heard previous mention of either of these issues.
On another note the guide stated that the V8Vs did 0-60 in 4secs dead. I know it's quicker than the TB but that seems optimistic. Mikey did say on the other thread there were a few inaccuracies though.

They are talking of the coil covers coming off. One on top of each cylinder head. On the race cars we drill small holes and tie wrap them on as sometimes they can come loose off of their clips and melt on the manifolds as they say.

Well mine are always loose every time I open the bonnet. The covers never move as far as the manifolds (dont drive it fast enough on my daily commute) but the clips certainly aren't very effective.

Yes, this happened to one of my covers - it came off but didn't melt. AM Stratstone clipped it back into place (2 min job) and said it was fairly common.

Indeed.

Two sites aimed at different audiences, Jeffrey yes

One is for car enthusiasts, the other is for people who like to listen to Mikey for some daft reason smile

James is right, its the coil covers that are held on with just a metal clip and a locating pin.
Had one fall off onto the manifold, melts it instantly. Tyrap is the "official" fix as said, just a bit fiddly to do unless you buy ones that are 2 foot long...
