I love my Chimaera
Discussion
I took my Chimaera for its MOT today and while waiting had a look at a Mercedes SLS. Initial reaction was , "Wow! What a great looking car". But after a few seconds I realised that the length of the bonnet must make the thing a nightmare when pulling out of junctions. Also realised that I actually like changing gear and the satisfaction I get when the revs, clutch bite and clunking home of the gear lever all happen smoothly - I don't want a flappy paddle, double clutch bit of wizardry to do it for me. I like being able to enjoy roof down motoring. I like the fact that the Chimaera is basically so simple that there is no reason why they can't be kept on the road indefinitely. I like the fact that my car was built by hand in a shed and not by robots in an hermetically sealed, dust free laboratory. I love the fact that despite being 15 years older than the SLS it is not that much slower 0-60mph. I love the fact my car is loud, great looking, fast, comfortable, has good boot capacity, is cheap to insure, cheapish to service and has a huge grin making capability.
Then the engineer said,"I'm please to tell you it's passed". I love my Chimaera. This is the eighth consecutive clean sheet in my ownership. Did I mention that I love my Chimaera?

You're one of those guys who likes to shine his machine
You make me take off my shoes before you let me get in
I can't believe you kiss your car good night
C'mon baby tell me-you must be jokin', right!
I often open my garage door just for a peep.

I agree with what has been said ... My Chimaera is slightly poorly ... she goes ok not really big issues ... The roof wants re doing the engine has a leak on the crankshaft seal ... new rubbers round the door ... also got a water leak I think from the window rubber ... No problems though have told her everything is going to be ok .... LOL LOL ...
I want to join in after today
At about 11 last night I was talked into going to silverstone for a giggle, about a 200 mile round trip. I've done some miles in the car since I bought it, but haven't strayed too far from home or done prolonged runs. Turned up at my mates yard at 6 this morning, went to the petrol station and threw £50 into the almost empty tank and sat in convoy with a van and a few cosworths probably averaging 90mph all the way there.
Did some running about around the track, fixing cars, getting tools, taking tickets and passes outside. It was a Ford show and I got more attention than some of the other cars there, was parked up near to the stand for the 'fastest ford track group thing' and next to one of the more modified recognisable cars and kept on seeing people walk away from the other cars to have a nose around my dirty old chim
Sat in traffic all of the way back to the M1, making noise in the queue and then blasted all of the way back home in under an hour. She didn't put a foot wrong, make any funny noises or stutter or break or worry me or anything. All she did was keep me giggling all day and there's still fuel left in the tank.
If I had tried to do that in my previous S4 it would have cost me £80 in fuel, been boring on the motorway and something would have broken. I LOVE MY TVR
