First mtb crash that could have been serious. On a narrow trail over dovestones resovoir tonight I "cocked up" and when bouncing down a very steep bank, thank god I landed in bushes and there where no rocks as I fell about 8 feet onto my thigh and apparently my wrist because that hurts too now. Could have been worse, think I need some knee pads.

RICE - rest, ice, compress, elevate.
If it still hurts in the morning get checked out by a doc.
Agree with that! I've had a couple of crashes over the years, but this (crash on Saturday morning) is the first time I've actually taken the advice seriously - not least because my wonderful boss told me off every time I suggested I was going to do anything other than stay on the sofa with my knee up If it still hurts in the morning get checked out by a doc.

- and I'm amazed at how much faster my recovery is going as a result! Hope you're feeling better in the morning.

Not sure if this is still an active thread but thought I would add my 2p, had my first bad crash last year (November) and broke my arm and ruptured ligaments in my elbow, and I was glad I was wearing knee pads at the time as they probably saved my knees from feeling more than sore.
Best thing I have done since then is get back on the bike and have a crash since, makes you remember that not all crashes end so badly !
