I really fancy a Mk.3. I've been looking at a 2007 brochure and the differences between the two models appear to be 172 alloys, front fog lights, heated leather, Billies and 6 speed box.

Given that the suspension is easily changed (and if the Forums are to be believed, even the Sports would benefit from a change of springs), the smaller lighter wheels are the purists choice and the cloth seats will give better bottom grip, is the 2.0 a better buy than the sport?

When Evo tested the mk3.5 they suspected that the 2.0SE would be the pick of the range due to the better ride on the smaller wheels.

Personally I prefer the cleaner look of the SEs without all the bling too.

I test drove the mk 3.5 1.8 SE, 2.0 Sport Tech and the 2.0 SE before deciding on the 2.0 SE. I just drove it from the north of England to Rome and it was superb. The ride and handling were much improved over my previous car (mini cooper)

The sport tech's ride would have become annoying on the cratered Italian roads, whereas the SE copes with them really well.
