Discussion
I recall a thread last year with some very attractive lease deals being offered (a few members acquired BMW 6 series for very reasonable money indeed)
I may be in a position to be interested in a personal lease. I will trawl all the usual websites, but has anyone seen anything particularly interesting recently.
Ideally large estate; but flexible.

I always have a gander at these. Quite like the idea of having a central thread, akin to Barge Bargains / Bargain Basement threads etc. as people tend to post them in the depths of a manufacturer-specific sub-forum and get lost. Obviously relevant there if it is a particular manufacturer / model but if you're agnostic and just after a good deal a thread here might work well.
Merc were doing some good deals on E-class estates recently...

I find the deals are only any good on something premium, silver, dieselly and german, otherwise it seems to be expensive, can see why the roads are so full of that kind of car, very compelling to get something like that for £300 ish a month, given that its usually not that much more than something not quite as enticing like an Insignia, our car park is full of SLK's, CLK's, A4's and various BMW's and all are leased, seems to be just the way people do it these days, realistically very few will save up 25/30 grand for that SLK.

Nine grand to have it for two years, not sure how they make any money on that, does seem pretty good value, surely it must depreciate by nine grand or more in that time ?Do they get them a lot cheaper from the manufacturers, I suppose Mercedes need to get some two year old used cars into their supply chain as their staff can only use so many and not everyone buys new, is that how it works, kind of a symbiotic relationship between the manfacturers and lease companies ?

Im always on the look out at prices, and st the moment there is nothing that I would call a good deal. Maybe its the wrong time to look, even the deals Merc were pushing out last year were not as good as the year before.
Good deal so far this year of note were,
Corsa vxr for 129 inc 3+23 Cheaper than a normal 1.2 corsa
Ds3 airdream 1.6 at 130 inc 3+23 now up to 180ish
There was a time yhere were deals all the time different males and models, but there apears to be nothing at yhe momoent that would constitute a bargain.
Maybe a astra gtc at 230 but thats the same price I paid for my slk and I see that as a down grade.
Bullit

I used www.contracthireandleasing.com to find the deal on my MX-5. I also spoke to Ling, but she couldn't get anywhere near the deal I'd found.

It's more like thirteen grand, if you look at the deal avaiable to personal (not business) customers, which includes a four grand initial payment.J4CKO said:

Yes that's what it is. It's an easy way to get the cars out on the road, keeping them tied into the dealer network.http://www.freedomcontracts.com/ do some great deals too, especially on Mercs. I got a C63 from them recently.

I nearly went for an MX-5 on lease about two years ago. It was November and nobody wanted them, so I was quoted £155inc vat on a 6+23. I still kick myself that I didn't go for it sometimes. How much is yours?

The lease co would certainly get increased discount, thus reducing the depreciation (assuming residual values can remain strong) meaning cheaper rentals. Mercedes for one have been very aggressive in these channels recently as they want to increase their volumes.
When these cars go back to lease co's some may go to main dealers through auction, but some are very specific as they only want ones with all the toys/big wheels to appeal to retail buyers. Majority I would imagine go straight to auction from the lease co.
Mercedes own staff cars would probably be on much shorter cycles (3-4 months) to generate nearly new stock for dealers.
