Can someone explain the logic? I should have been at Chris Evans's CarFest North this weekend with 4 others from the forum, but Evans has pulled the plug on us as we don't have 7 cars on display Fri, Sat & Sun. As with last year, we were paying to display our cars, which we would have spent time and money on, to show over the weekend. Our expense, as well as many other car clubs, is to give paying CarFest visitors more interesting things to look at at the event, generating more money for CarFest. They win twice! Friday and Saturday would have been days off work for me and, as a self employed person, I'd be a few hundred quid down on that too.
I understand that another 2 cars would have produced a bit more money, but if you want something interesting to show the public, then a very low volume British supercar is likely to be it. But the very nature of the beast means there won't be so many on offer. If we were the MG Owners Club then there are 30,000 people who may have wanted to take part! I'm not belittling the MG but demonstrating the difference in a huge club with unremarkable cars to look at, as opposed to the mysterious 'giant slayer' that is Noble. I still regularly have people come up to me who have never heard of us, let alone know what one looks like.
Just as well that I'm not the owner of the only Panther Six built as I too wouldn't get to display it at CarFest!

I agree B,also had to have a compulsory 7 cars ,wanted to charge us v.a.t,couldn't have any banners, had to abide by a 15page manual of do's & dont's,charge us extra for camping, were just a fill-in for the gaps they cant fill,And their still making money/profit before charity.Well its suppose to charity ?.I understand that another 2 cars would have produced a bit more money, but if you want something interesting to show the public, then a very low volume British supercar is likely to be it. Lasts years CarFest South was truly awful, but I assumed it was because it was a whole new event. North was significantly better but spending 2 days there was hard work for people on displays. This year they wanted 3 days! I have to say though that during these difficult times it was very expensive for ordinary folk.
This is the trouble with big corporate car shows where people are doing it for a living, feel Wilton House is headed this way. There is big money involved, Goodwood has shown this, but doesn't go under the guise of being for charity. The car show I, with my wife and a few mates organised was just as good, if not better than other shows I have attended and every last penny will be going to charity. We had around one hundred and twenty cars, each asked to pay a folding donation to display and spectators were asked to make any donation they wanted, so long as they donated something. With our raffle and auction we made about £6100 after expenses!!! I would like to know how much is being taken out to pay the organisers, I bet if you knew how much money was being taken out to pay them, you would think twice about going. Don't want to be cynical but it is easy to be so when the costs are so high.
I think you unwittingly answered your own question once all the cars couldn't be there, the theme is based on his magnificent seven, so there were 7 formula one cars, 7 rally cars, 7 lotus / Caterham sevens, 7 Astons, 7 Matras - rarer than Nobles?
I agree with Tux, it is very dear, we were given a pair of VIP one day passes by someone who couldn't go yesterday, cost £200! and it was a good afternoon, but not a Great one,
I spoke to a couple of guys who were working there, they were getting £250 for the weekend working as stuards, and we're doing 14 hours yesterday alone.
So some contractors will be making a few quid, i saw one company MD emptying the bins around the place so not all glamour for them either, I think the charity get a the best of it.
