Mk3 Fiesta RST possible LSD fault??
Discussion
Hi,
I have a strange problem with my car I'm hoping I may be able to get some advice on please.
When turning right while travelling quite quickly (roughly 30-35) typically around roundabouts, I get a vibration (& noise to match) from the left front wheel. It is as though the the tyre is skipping across the road & trying to under-steer slightly, although the handling doesn't really seem affected if that makes sense. I've done tests, at similar or higher speed, turning left & get no such feeling or noise.
I have tried the following, all of which have made no difference -
Swapped wheels. All are Toyo Proxes with nearly all their tread, although they were sat in a shed for 18 months.
Swapped the suspension (spring & shock) as I had a spare set.
Checked thoroughly for anything loose/worn underneath.
Now, it has a Quaife LSD (as well as rose jointed bottom arms) & I'm wondering if it possible that this has 'failed' on one side?? I don't even know if this is possible as I know very little about diffs.
I do know it seems to have the same levels of traction in a straight line & out of corners as it used to.
The only other thing I could think of was a wheel bearing but I don't get any noise when turning right slowly, only when pressing on.
I should add that the car has been re-shelled & I didn't used to have this problem before, it's only since it's been put back on the road. It's all the same running gear etc as before & it was off the road for about 2 years.
Any ideas/advice on what I could try or check would be most appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
Ben.

Thanks for the reply. I'll start with the wheel bearing first & hope for the best. Not sure on the mileage as, to be honest, I can't remember which bits are from which car! The new parts (i.e. the gearbox & susupension) have probably done about 10,000 but not sure about wheel hubs etc.
Cheers, Ben
