The wife has very kindly offered to pay for a track training course as a birthday pressie. It will be in UK and I have in mind something to show me how to get the best out of the car, correct driving faults of which there will no doubt be many, and generally have a high old time of it thrashing around a track somewhere. Looking to do a full day, possibly more. Can anyone make any recommendations as to where to go and with whom?

There is a young chap on here who is a professional GT4 racer and offers training days in their GT4 car.
Search for James on here who goes by the name Curlyapplehead.

Alternatively visit their website (google search Generation AMR).

As Phil says a PDC is a worthy experience and one well worth consideration, its not cheap but it is something you will learn from, thoroughly
enjoy and have some long lasting memories of.

The Events Team at Gaydon will point you in the right direction if you can't deem all you need to know off the web site.

If it falls into your budget its an exceptional day, just turn up and drive the AM of your choice accompanied by a works instructor and enjoy.

Worth taking a spare pair of pants mind.rolleyes

A few of us have been on this; even Mrs Yeti had a go in her old 911 and loved it!! Andy Walsh knows how to teach.

But whoever you go for, check they're ARDS qualified instructors http://www.ards.co.uk/

Molly and I have both been on the Performance Driving Course at Millbrook. It truly is a fantastic day. I could not recommend it highly enough. The instructors are a great bunch and certainly lift your driving skills . The lunch that they provide is excellent as well.

I went on the Performance Car Control course with the Driver Development Programme a few weeks ago:

http://www.driverdp.com/

Carolyn has been running the course for a few years now and it's based at the Prodrive track in Honiley. That means that you get go on the high speed track as well as the low friction surfaces. My instructor for the day also happens to own a white, modded V8V. wink

I can highly recommend it.

Another vote for the PDC. Went on it when I had the vantage and it really boosted my confidence in what the car could do. I am going on the course again, this time in a DB9 on the 27th of August.

Variety of the day is fantastic from the handling track through to the alpine track and has been said already to instructors are great.

Best regards

Josh

Give Mike Cooper a call. Excellent track tuition in your own car. Used him for a couple of full days and also short stints of 20 mins whilst at track days. Always learn something and improve with each session.

Millbrook is a great day out, but you won't learn how to drive on a track there.

And if you do the pdc make sure the alpine circuit isn't closed for maintenance! Kind of ruins it!

I can vouch for this.... These guys were great, they sourced me a set of track wheels and a set of soft DUNLOP slicks.... I had the best day ever!!!!

one on one tuition at Silverstone, would recommend that everyone has a go at this..... Under £500-00 for the whole day with a racing driver, you will be surprised how capable your car is... (especially on slicks..)

If anyone wants to do a day at Silverstone in Early Oct let me know..... would be a great low number meet...
