Driving differences between a 930 turbo & an early 964turbo
Discussion
Looking at a 4 speed 930 or possibly something like this?

Looking for opinions from people who have owned both if possible.

^^ What Crimpy said.
They boost very similar, then for the rest of the differences think of the difference between your 964 and your 3.2, e.g., PAS and ABS on 964, so better more confidence inspiring brakes and steering.
930 more raw as Crimpy says. For raw, read scary, as if you're pressing on you'll find the standard brakes a bit naff and you'll find yourself locking up a front wheel etc.
That 964 in your link is ok, but spec wise the interior is a dull colour, it doesn't have sports seats and it has the wrong wheels. Decent mileage though at a fair price.
It doesn't mention an engine rebuild though and although some 964 carreras can last 60k yet some can last 120K without a rebuild, a 964T WILL be ready for a rebuild by 90-100K, simply due to the temperatures produced inside the motor. Good excuse for upgrades though.

Before buying my 964T I had a look at a 4-speed 930. The 964 is, relatively speaking, a much more modern drive with much better equipment. I drove the 930 (a 79 car I think) that I looked at twice - first time was in the rain so I went back on a sunny day. Lasting impressions of the 930 were poor brakes, masses of turbo lag accentuated by the high gearing and a low equipment level. You are, after all, comparing a car from the 1970s to one from the 1990s so the 930 is always going to be on the back foot.
I imagine that, these days, it will be very difficult to find a decent 964T in original condition. Compared to 930s relatively few 3.3 964Ts were sold in the UK (130 vs 900+ iirc). As ever, buy on condition and pick the best car. 964Ts might be a bit more advanced but I wouldn't pick a ropey one over a decent 930 as neither are particularly good cars by modern standards.
As for the 964T linked to, despite what is said in the ad, it's not entirely original. Wrong wheels, as mentioned above, but also wrong exhaust judging by the tips and wrong suspension judging by the ride height.

The thing people have to remember, these cars are over twenty years old.
They will never be the same driving experience as a newer 911. They are what they are faults and all
the lag on the turbo and other things you either love them or not.
Every 930 will not drive the same, this is due to many factors like has the owner spent money on there up keep things need replacing?
I came across many 930's that looked the part however needed money spent on them right away.
Many owners I found had one, and spent no money on them and still want top money come selling day.
Buy the best you can for the money you have and have some spare cash for a big bill or two.
