Back home and what a great weekend. I think that was the best and most diverse display of Aston s. ever put together in the South West - very fitting for a Centenary celebration. The only era missing was the Felthams 1950's cars but every era was represented. Great fun when we were asked into the Arena to make a little noise biggrin

Really pleased that so many people were able to come along to the Dinner. Despite the weather it was a great event which hopefully we will go along to again next year.

Thanks for the kind comments - going to have a sleep know !!!!!!!

As an avid car enthusiast, I hoped that the new Castle Hill event would be well received for those that had not visited the area before.

My wife and I live locally and went on the Sunday as part of the North Devon Hospice Classic & Sports Car run in our S1 Lotus Elise. Quite a few AMs on the run. A few DB9s, AM Vantage V8 / V12s, so thank you for supporting a worthy local charity.

As I have been looking to purchase an early AM Vantage V8 for a while, I wanted to chat to the owners, as you do not see many AMs in North Devon. Also, there might well have been someone who was looking to sell a cherished example.

I so wish I visited on Saturday, as I was told it was very busy with excellent attendance by the AMOC. I was absolutely gutted that the majority of the AMs had gone on Sunday, but the wet weather on Sunday didn't help.

I personally think it is a stunning setting for fellow classic and sports car enthusiasts. I hope is becomes the next Festival of Speed for North Devon.

On a final note, if you know anyone that is selling a nice early AM Vantage Manual V8, then please drop me a PM.

Hi Adrian, I organised the Aston presence at Castle Hill and it is a real shame you were not there on the Saturday as we had 45 cars on display covering just about the entire history of Astons Centenary of existence. I do not think any other marque had so many cars there which was pretty remarkable given how few Astons there are in the SW.

We were there on the Sunday but the very wet weather made me decide that the cars should not go back into the display area. The way the rain was coming down on Sunday when we arrived and how muddy the exits were getting persuaded me that I did not want to risk the cars getting damaged if they got stuck in the display area - we had some very valuable cars on display and the owners, unsurprisingly, would not have been happy if I had put their cars at risk. We still had about 20 cars parked up at the house until lunchtime by when there were only a few people coming up to see the cars so most people left - most were pretty wet by then having been on site since 9:00am.

We expect to be back again next year and are also looking to get more cars involved in the North Devon Hospice Road runs next year. I had not been aware of it before but have got myself on the mailing list.

I am not aware of any members who are looking to sell their Vantages - so sorry cannot help on that front. However, when, you find one please get in touch and I can tell you more about the Owners Club in the SW and the types of events we do. Good luck with your search - it will be fun.

Thank you for replying to my post.

Yes I agree with the access, this was a shame, as we nearly got stuck in our Elise and before coming back, I went and got my Defender :-)

Yes, once I have found one, I will be joining the Club.

As a proud Devonian, I hope this event can become as successful as I think it should be. Despite sending the PH team a long email describing the event, it was shame not to see it as feature of their news. Hopefully, you'll be able to raise the profile of the event, as the amazing turnout by AM proves that it could end up being something very special.

Thank you for making this a very exciting new motoring event for North Devon. I look forward to seeing all the cars next year.

Warmest of regards

TPH
