Had it 8 months and didn't even think to post it up..!

Got it as a Part exchange at work, with 131000km on clock. Spec as standard is as follows -

Legacy BG5 GT-B
280bhp
5speed Manual transmission

It has been in the country since 2010, I am the third UK owner (First being the importer then the previous owner). Previous owner ripped the wind deflectors off and upgraded the brakes to 4pot fronts and 2pot rears.

As it came into the country -

As I received it -

(removed the chrome bar that night!)

First job was to change the Nearside Driveshaft - Shaft from a GC8 Impreza goes straight in - job done.
Black waxed, brakes stripped and cleaned, oil and filter change also done.

This is it beside my old RS Turbo - sold that and my Honda Civic Sport to get the Legacy - not having to pay car finance is great.

Not much happened over the next 5 months - new set of 17" WRX wheels were put on.

And then it gets to the point when the bug hits you. Its a cracking standard car but I just wanted that little bit extra...

STi Carbon strut brace - firms the front end up nicely.

I then got the chance of a Job lot of parts for it. So in one weekend, a Front Mount intercooler was fitted along with custom pipework, as far as I am aware it is one of a very limited sets ever made for a GTB. Along with the FMIC i got a Mines stage 2 ECU and a Blitz Cone filter with HKS hard pipe. My exhaust fabricator decatted the centre section. Along with all that I ordered a Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump, and that was all installed in a weekend. Great!

Or so i thought. Whoever manufactured the top tank (for the 2 turbos to flow into to send the air to the FMIC) had cut the core out an old intercooler... and fiberglassed it together! With all the paint over the unit you couldn't tell when I installed it, but after blowing it clean in half on boost I soon quickly knew. Off to my local engineering specialist who alloy welded the tank. 40 quid well spent. Just ignore my temporary expansion tank - a solution is coming!

All running nice now, pulls great, not a lot louder than standard which I wanted to keep. Although I work with Subarus day in day out, I couldn't drive a loud one all day.

Weekend after that I managed to get a set of wind deflectors, which are pretty rare. Fitted them, and now it hides the cracking paint where the old ones were!

And that's really it for now. Trying to get a set of 18 inch wheels so I can fit my AP Racing 355x32mm discs and 6 pot calipers...

Wont be to everyones taste, but thanks for reading!

Had one until it was written off recently. Never put a foot wrong in the 18 months I had it, absolutely loved that car.

Its a good idea to refurb the solenoid box with new vac lines, cost me about a tenner and less than an hour, definitely made a difference.

I know the Mechanic that worked on the car when it was with the previous owner - he got that all sorted when it came in - but having owned a BD5 GT Saloon a few years back that hadnt been done, it certainly is some difference when you refurb the box.

Sorry to hear yours was written off - I don't know what i'd do if mine was!

I was gutted at the time, it was hit front and rear, still ran well despite the bonnet being tied down with a bungee cord.

Would have another in a heartbeat.

Not good frown

Its rare to see a BG5 GTB nowadays, its all really 3rd Gen and 4th Gen ones for sale. Still, great package for the amount of money you pay for it.

Looking nice. I'm picking up a 1999 GTB on tuesday. I wasn't planning on modding but seeing yours....

Mine comes with a custom cat back and a panel filter, which gives it a nice rumble but is there a standard modifying route people take?

Looks fantastic. If I had a bit more money lying around it would be very high on my list of ideal daily cars. Big enough to chuck lots of tools and people in, rare enough to be interesting and (easily) fast enough to take a few people by surprise and make it a fun thing to drive.

Look forward to seeing any updates smile

Love a fast Legacy, my dad had a 1992 UK Legacy Turbo wagon, first car I drove on track when I was 14. Loved that car, wish I could find one like it for sale now, unfortunately they seem to be quite rare frown your GTB looks great on the WRX wheels fella, although with a GC8 wagon as a daily I can see why you would want to use the 6 pots!

Excellent. I'm still really interested in one of these to replace my current primera, if it ever dies (which I doubt).

The last I saw of mine, this thread is not good for my morale.
